The Asian Youth Games is one of the comprehensive games under the OCA, which is held every four years.

Olympic Council of Asia,

Founded on1981165438+126 October, its predecessor was the Asian Games Federation, which was established in New Delhi on 3 February. Headquartered in Kuwait. It is the only organization that comprehensively manages the Asian Olympic Movement. At present, there are five comprehensive sports games under the OCA system, namely: Asian Games, Asian Winter Games, Asian Indoor Wushu Games (from 20 13, the former Asian Indoor Wushu Games and the former Asian Wushu Games were merged into one Asian Indoor Wushu Games), Asian Beach Games and Asian Youth Games.

On April 3, 2008, the 52nd Executive Committee Meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia held in Bangkok, Thailand passed a resolution to hold a comprehensive sports meeting with young people as the main body. The Asian Youth Games thus became the fifth comprehensive games under the OCA. The idea of establishing the Asian Youth Games by OCA originated from the decision of the International Olympic Committee to host the Youth Olympic Games. The Asian Youth Games aims to strengthen exchanges and communication among young people in Asian countries and regions, spread the Olympic spirit among Asian young people, and encourage them to participate more actively in sports, culture and education activities and develop a healthy lifestyle.

In 2008, OCA decided to hand over the right to host the first Asian Youth Games in 2009 to Singapore. From June 29th to July 7th, 2009, the 1st Asian Youth Games was successfully held in Singapore. There are 9 major events and 90 minor events, and the age of athletes is between 14- 17. The 9-day competition was attended by 3,000 athletes and Olympic Committee officials from 45 countries and regions in Asia. The funding of the Asian Youth Olympic Games in Singapore is mainly supported by the government, and there is basically no financial subsidy from the OCA.
