Writing background
Jinggangshan was the turning point for Mao Zedong’s exploration of the Chinese revolution. It was the initial cradle for cultivating his military genius and the unforgettable starting point for him as a horseback poet. Mao Zedong’s love for Jinggangshan I have always thought about it, and in my old age, I have become more and more obsessed with it. In May 1965, Mao Zedong returned to Jinggangshan, "traveling thousands of miles to find his hometown." He recalled the present and the past, full of pride, and wrote "Nian Nujiao·Jinggangshan" and "Shui Diao Ge Tou·Revisiting Jinggangshan".
The two works are at the same time, in the same place, in the same context, and with the same theme. There are many similarities or similarities in content, artistic conception, emotion, style, structure and even words.
As in "Come a thousand miles to find the old place" and "Return to the old place"; "Old appearance has changed to a new look" and "The world has changed, as if the heaven and earth were overturned"; "The wind and thunder are moving" and "The wind and thunder are majestic" ; "Thirty-eight years have passed in a blink of an eye" and "Thirty-eight years have passed in a blink of an eye." Both works express the author's deep longing for Jinggang Mountain and his eagerness to return.
Jinggangshan is a microcosm of the glorious achievements of New China. Mao Zedong was delighted by the great changes in Jinggangshan. Mao Zedong lamented that time flies by and the past seems like yesterday, but the significance and influence of Jinggangshan will never fade away. "After crossing the Huangyang boundary, there is no need to look at the dangerous places." For Mao Zedong, who had "long ambitions", he had overcome the bloody storms of the year. What difficulties remained that could not be overcome? Even though I am old, I should be saying, "Nothing is difficult in the world, as long as you are willing to climb." This is such a strong ambition.
Mao Zedong’s Jinggangshan lyrics embody Mao Zedong’s deep and long Jinggangshan complex. The rumble of cannons in Huangyangjie has been fixed in the depths of history, and Mao Zedong's two sentimental works when he returned to Jinggang Mountains will also glow with eternal artistic charm.
"Niannujiao·Jinggangshan" Mao Zedong
Towering trees, thousands of miles away, flying up to the strange mountains in the south.
When I returned to my old place, I saw more buildings and pavilions.
In front of Wujing Monument, on Huangyangjie, cars are flying like leaps. The country is picturesque, and the clouds and sea were green in ancient times.
In the blink of an eye, the world has changed for thirty-eight years, as if the world has been overturned. I still remember that during the war, I narrowly escaped death just like yesterday.
Unique pride, the bright moon hangs in the sky, and the wind and thunder are majestic. A chicken sings, and all the strange things disappear.
