Yining (1247— 13 17) was a monk in the Yuan Dynasty. The common surname is Hu, No.1 Mountain, and the dharma name is Yining. He is from Baimao Village in the west of Linhai County (now Linhai City). He became a monk in Tiantai Mountain since childhood and later lived in Putuo Mountain. Practice Zen, study Buddhist scriptures intensively, be proficient in Confucianism and Taoism, and be good at calligraphy. He used to be the president of Buddhism in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces and was awarded the title of Master Miao Ci Hongji. Yuan Dade went to Japan for three years (1299) and was detained by Japanese minister Tiaozhen. Later, he was the master of Xijing nanzenji, who lived in Japan for 20 years and taught Zen in Kamakura and Kyoto, and was called "One Mountain School".
It has a certain influence on the development of Buddhism, art, literature and calligraphy in Japan. After his death, he was respected by the Japanese emperor and posthumously awarded the title of "Buddhist". Quotations are handed down from generation to generation. Since Hong 'an, China has almost cut off the road of studying abroad, so it is Yining Thorn Ji that can flourish again. Yining's Zen legal system spread in Japan is one of the twenty-four schools of Zen in ancient Japan, which is called "Yishan School". The main disciples are De Jian of Longshan, You Mei of Xue Cun, No Good Marriage, No Good Reason, No Confusion, Good Qin, Juzhong, Youqiu, etc. Among them, Youcun Xue Cun is the most famous, accounting for about 80% of Yishan School.
