Liu Xiaoqing, a Shanghainese, was born in June 1942. He is currently a member of the Academic Committee of China Calligraphers' Association, vice chairman of Shanghai Calligraphers' Association, adjunct professor of Shanghai University College of Literature, president of Shanghai Hudong Painting Academy, and deputy editor-in-chief of Calligraphy magazine of Shanghai Calligraphy and Painting Publishing House.
