This couplet was written in the summer of the 13th year of Chongzhen (1640), when Wang Duo was 49 years old. The back cover of China CalligraphyNo. 12 in 2002 is called "Xuanzhai Liufa Painting", which is absurd. Yu, I can't pass the arts and sciences. Willow trees have never been planted in the house, but catkins have actually grown out. It is suspected that he mistook the cursive "pepper" (see photo) for "willow".
This is a pair of inscribed couplets.
On couplets, the peak stones are particularly bright under the night snow. Seen from a height, it looks like a snowy mountain, but the brightness highlights the cold.
The "Xuan Zhai" in the second couplet refers to a high-rise residence with a corridor outside. "Pepper flower": refers to the flower of pepper. Tang Bai Juyi's poem "Xinfeng folding arm Weng": "I heard that there is Lushui in Yunnan, and the smoke rises when the pepper flowers fall." Jin Liuzhen's wife wrote a poem entitled "An Ode to a Pepper Flower" on the first day of the first lunar month, which is often used as a classic during the Spring Festival. The second couplet turns its eyes to the bottom, which looks like the scene of Xuanzhai: it's spring when the pepper flowers are in bloom. Spring has come, so pepper flowers are beginning to bloom. This is no less than Chun Zhu's Ode to Pepper Flowers.
The author's conception of couplets can be described as well-intentioned. The high scenery is neat and ingenious for the low scenery, the outside is the inside, and the cold is the warmth. The words "Ming" and "Fa" have special images. Draw a picture of the Spring Festival. This is a masterpiece.
The calligraphy of this couplet is peculiar and correct, and its composition is patchy, changeable and magnificent.
