Literati drinking tea in Tang Dynasty

China's "literati" refers to intellectuals, who taste tea, that is, the art of literati tasting tea. In the Tang Dynasty, with the ancient capital Chang 'an as the center, scholars and tea celebrities from the Tang Dynasty gathered, such as poets Li Bai, Du Fu and Bai Juyi, calligraphers Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan, and painters Wu Daozi, Wang Wei and Han Kun. Musicians such as Bai Mingda and Li Guinian organized tea parties, wrote tea poems, discussed tea and made friends with them, thus integrating into the tea ceremony in the Tang Dynasty. According to the incomplete statistics of Complete Tang Poems, there are more than 600 poems about tea, and there are more than 150 poets. Li Bai, Du Fu and Bai Juyi. They all wrote a lot of poems about tea. Li Bai's Yuquan Xianren Tea, Du Fu's More Three Than He Wu, Bai Juyi's Chashan Night Banquet, Du Mu's Chashan Poetry, Liu Zongyuan's Tea-picking Bamboo Poetry, Wen's Tea-picking Song, and Yan Zhenqing's Wuyan Moonlit Tea Couplet, etc. , all show that.

Ancient China literati had an indissoluble bond with tea. It can be said that without them, there would be no China Tea Ceremony, because all the literati have part-time jobs, especially the officials at the state and county levels who work in tea areas. Because of their status, they have a better chance to get famous tea and even taste tribute tea in front of the emperor. At the same time, because they have a delicate feeling about tea, they can best understand the charm of tea. In addition, tea helps writing. Therefore, taking "scholar" as the center, literati tea, one of the three major tea arts in the Tang Dynasty, was formed.

The literati tea style flourished in the Tang Dynasty, and it is common to hold family tea parties. Tang literati tea is a scene in which Bai Juyi, a famous poet and tea drinker in Chang 'an, hosted a family tea party to entertain poets Gu Kuang and Liu Yuxi.
