Among them, Chen Shaoji, former chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Political Consultative Conference, and Wang Youjie, former member of the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial Party Committee, were sentenced for illegal crimes and were expelled from the membership of the China Calligraphers Association. Another 12 people were placed on file for investigation on suspicion of illegal crimes, and their membership in the Calligraphy Association was suspended.

In February, the second presidium meeting of the fourth session was held in Beijing. The meeting adopted the working regulations of the presidium, adopted the membership rules and adjusted the membership fees of individual members, and announced the establishment of seven new professional committees.
