Because Su Shi is Cheng Yi's sworn enemy, Zhu has always been hostile to Dongpo. Politically, he would rather agree with Wang Anshi than Su Shi, which is understandable, but he insists that Su Guo "did what his father did" to Liang Shicheng, which is actually a slander. Imagine, Liang Shi became recognized by Dongpo's descendants, and once fawned on Dongpo's subordinate Sun Suyuan. After being rejected, he didn't mean any harm. Su Guo, as Su Yuan's uncle, has become universally acknowledged, and Liang Shi should be treated with courtesy. How can he be "like a father"? Liang Shicheng was a eunuch, but why did he have a "wife" (there was no system for eunuchs and maids to eat in the Song and Ming Dynasties)? Without his wife, how can Guo and Fan Wen "mourn their mother"?
