Guo Shaoyu's family background

Mr. Guo Shaoyu was born in the 19th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1893). Although his family belongs to a scholarly family, it is very poor. Grandfather is a former Qing juren.

Father Guo Luqing didn't get into fame. He is a poor scholar, worked as a clerk and proofreader, and also worked as a tutor. Guo Luqing fled during the Anti-Japanese War in 1937 and died in Dongshan, a rural area in Suzhou. Mother Zhu Shufang died in her former residence 1947.

And his brother Guo have lived in a shabby place since childhood. They deeply understand the difficulty of farming and the importance of learning. They feel that they must work hard and be self-reliant. Guo Shaoyu respects the old and loves the young at home, and is united and harmonious. I live frugally, but I support my parents a lot. His brother Guo is a well-educated middle school teacher. They have mutual needs and deep feelings.

Under the influence of his father, Guo Shaoyu loves learning. Later, due to poor family background, I only studied in Mengyang No.1 Middle School for a few years. Under the guidance of two teachers, Lu Yu 'an and Lu Yu 'an, he studied poetry books assiduously until the works of Ming adherents. Even in painting shops, antique shops and second-hand bookshops, he has been exposed to many famous painters and painters, various cultural relics and various versions of ancient books, which greatly broadened his horizons. Therefore, these shops and stalls became his street "museums" and "libraries", which made him linger. Later, he studied in an industrial middle school for two years. Because he loved literature since he was a child, he ran several issues of Ji Ming Magazine in succession when he was studying in middle school. Later, I dropped out of school because of family financial difficulties.

The Guo family lives in Suzhou. Because my family is poor and has no real estate, I have been renting a house. Not only is the condition poor, but he is often forced to move. From 65438 to 0927, after Guo Shaoyu became a professor in yenching university, his life was relatively stable and he had some savings. So he bought a set of ordinary houses built in the late Qing Dynasty in Daxinqiao Lane, Suzhou, for his parents to provide for their old age, and invited his brother Guo, who was teaching in his hometown at that time, to live with his parents, and he often went back to Suzhou to visit his parents on holidays.

Guo Shaoyu's academic contribution is well known. He has a deep foundation in calligraphy and art.

Guo Shaoyu's wife, Ms. Zhang Fangxing, graduated from Shanghai CoCo Lee Girls' Middle School in her early years and later taught at Fuzhou Women's Normal School. After Mr. Wang's death, he compiled Zhao Jiaoshi Miscellaneous Works, which was published by Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House.
