Zhou Sicong's Personality Evaluation

An outstanding female painter

Zhou Sicong is an outstanding female painter in the art history of China in the 20th century, leaving many influential works in her life. In her artistic career, she studied under Jiang, Ye and Li Keran. From her study in the Central Academy of Fine Arts to her work in the Beijing Painting Academy, these people have been paying attention to and guiding her art and becoming her artistic mentor all her life. Several people encouraged and cherished each other with her. She used her own brush to thank the comforting teacher in a unique way. There are touching stories behind her works, which have the meaning of gratitude and comfort, such as the portraits of painters Jiang, Changbai and Mr. Li Keran. Wu Guanzhong (Professor of Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts and Member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference): "She is a real artist, and her art and personality are first-class in China."

Zhu Naizheng (vice president, professor and CPPCC member of the Central Academy of Fine Arts): In the painting world, Lu Chen and Zhou Sicong's "like-minded" and "harmonious understanding" are well known. He is the best of a generation of painters who grew up in the new China period. Sicong has been working in Beijing Painting Academy. Zhou Sicong's works are famous at home and abroad. Zhou Sicong is an artistic genius with noble personality, persistent pursuit and many immortal works. He is good at transforming subjective feelings and telepathy into painting.

Wang Mingming (deputy director of the State Council Counselor's Office, member of the Standing Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and vice chairman of China Artists Association): "The works of the two teachers have actually left us with their spirit, their wisdom and their love for the new China. This is a very rich legacy. I thought a lot when I saw their photos. There are so few artists like Zhou Sicong and Lu Chen in China. Because I learned to draw with them in' 72. What I want to talk to you about today is something outside the painting, something that is lacking in our time. One is their character, because I think the virtue of our Chinese nation, why artists can become masters. I think the reason why artists can get people's thoughts and review the classic works behind them is to cultivate a person's personality in life. I think our contemporary artists ignore this charm. I hope my friends can learn from Zhou Sicong and Lu Chen and treat them with things outside the painting. They created a peak, they are different, but I think we must study their people when reviewing their works. What continues in their blood is respect for the elderly and teachers. I have been with them for 20 years. They respect everything, their teachers and couples, just like their parents. For the later schools, including our Nie Ou and Yang Gang, all the students, no matter who you are, give careful help and support. This is the core issue of China national artists' inheritance. He has inheritance and development, and he has to find someone to support him. In today's art development, advocacy is particularly important. I wrote about their respect for history and tradition in interviews and memories. After arriving at the Painting Academy, I went to the reference room. Many very classical materials were signed with Zhou Sicong's name, which he borrowed. I have only seen a few people borrow such books, and few artists of my generation borrow them. I went to the Academy of Painting in 1978, and when I entered the Academy, I felt that the reason why Zhou Sicong has such a thick accumulation is to absorb and learn from the tradition. Including Lu Chen, he absorbed from another aspect, he absorbed calligraphy, and they studied in the same way. So here, I think everyone should study him. They are very good role models. "

Some people say that Zhou Sicong is the greatest female artist in China since Li Qingzhao. For people outside the art circle, this evaluation may be too high, but Zhou Sicong is indeed recognized as an outstanding painter, leaving people with rich artistic heritage and precious spiritual wealth. She has superhuman talent and understanding, and is a well-deserved leader in Chinese painting since the new period. Some time ago, Beijing Painting Academy held "I Love Ordinary People-Zhou Sicong's Creation and Sketch Exhibition" to commemorate the early death of this female painter. This is the 70th anniversary of the birth of Zhou Sicong. She was born in 1939 and died in 1996. She has been dead for 13 years. Time flies. Based on many of Mr. Zhou Sicong's old classmates and friends, the Beijing Painting Academy held a small and medium-sized special exhibition. This exhibition is different from previous exhibitions held in Zhou Sicong, and it should have brand-new features in exhibition planning and collection of exhibits. In view of today's artistic creation, in the process of creation in recent years, I feel that we are deficient in theme creation, because we have neglected to learn creative experience from a senior artist like Zhou Sicong, whose experience needs to be summarized. These experiences include her theme conception, conception, material collection, creative process and so on. For these reasons, I want to present an exhibition in Zhou Sicong through the exhibition planned by the college, through some creations of Zhou Sicong in the Cultural Revolution and 1980s, and comparing with the materials she collected-sketches and sketches, so as to let everyone know the creative process of Zhou Sicong as a figure painter and a China painter who has created many classic arts, and explore some regular things in her creation, hoping to enlighten the current artistic creation. As far as the source of the works in this exhibition is concerned, it includes Zhou Sicong's works collected by Beijing Painting Academy, works collected by Zhou Sicong's family and sketches and sketches provided by a collector, Mr. Li Zhiyuan. On the basis of these works, we collate, compare, study, edit and publish the album, so as to sort out Zhou Sicong's creation in that period more completely.

Wu Changjiang (Executive Vice President of China Artists Association): "Today, showing the works of our predecessors to the world is undoubtedly an excellent opportunity for us to feel the artistic brilliance of our predecessors again. I believe that in such a comprehensive exhibition, all the audience can experience and understand the inclusive and innovative spirit of the two gentlemen and the integration of the traditional realm spirit through one piece of work, which may be the value of bringing their works together again after many years of death. "

Feng Yuan (Vice Chairman of China Artists Association): We should learn from Mr. Zhou Sicong's thoughts and artistic ethics, and learn from her artistic view. She is the representative of Chinese painting.

Tan Ping (Vice President of the Central Academy of Fine Arts): "They (Zhou Sicong and Lu Chen) are pioneers of Chinese painting in the new historical period, and their creative practice and art education have made remarkable achievements ... Their artistic thoughts are an important part of the academic pursuit and ideal of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and an important shaper of the development process of new China painting."

Shao Dazhen (Professor, Central Academy of Fine Arts): "It gives all the audience an opportunity to re-understand art and life, and it is an opportunity for spiritual experience to be sublimated."

Guo Yicong (Professor, Central Academy of Fine Arts): "They are the most prominent representatives of the inheritance and development of Chinese painting in that period, and they are also conscious advocates of the progress of Chinese painting. Their lives and paintings can be regarded as role models for future generations. "
