Liu Ti refers to Liu Gongquan, the last great calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty and one of the four masters of regular script. Liu Gongquan studied Wang Xizhi's calligraphy in his early years, and then he specialized in Ou Yangxun and Yan Zhenqing. Liu Gongquan was famous at that time. It is said that many foreign envoys came to China to buy Mo Bao of Liu Gongquan. Liu Gongquan's calligraphy is as famous as Yan Zhenqing's, and he is also called Yan Liu.

Liu Ti's calligraphy is characterized by sharp edges, strong bones, openness and elegance, and is called "Yan Gu" together with Yan Zhenqing's calligraphy.
