Li Ying (1930-2006) was born in Huzhou, Zhejiang. He was fond of calligraphy and calligraphy since childhood and became a disciple of Mr. Shen Yinmo. He had close relationships with Mr. Feng Zikai, Fei Xinwo, Sha Menghai and others.
His calligraphy is prepared in all styles. He is good at running and cursive script. He is good at both small regular script and large characters on plaques. Mr. Shen Yinmo once said: "The brushwork is precise, round in the square, vivid and natural, and endowed with a spirit of elegance." Mr. Zhu Guantian commented that it is "showy on the outside and strong on the inside, mellow and elegant." Mr. Zhang Ming commented that "the charm is vivid, full of passion, and the breath is touching."
