Zhang Mushi’s biography

Tianjin native. A generation of Jinmen scholars, poets, calligraphers and seal carvers, and connoisseurs of epigraphy, calligraphy and painting. Traveling from Shou Shimao, he became close friends with Zhang Boju. Mr. Zhang Boju called Zhang Mushi and Chen Julai the "Southern Chen and Northern Zhang" in the world of seal cutting, which shows that Zhang Boju loved Zhang Mushi's talent. Most of the seals commonly used by Zhang Boju in his later years were made by Zhang Mushi. He was a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, consultant of the Tianjin Calligraphers Association, executive director of the Chinese Poetry Society, vice president of the Tianjin Poetry Society, and consultant of the Tianjin Seal Society. He is the author of eight kinds of "Cocoon Menglu Series" including "Cocoon Menglu Poems", "Seal Engraving Jingwei", "Zhang Mu Shi Seal Pu", "Zhang Mushi Poems", "Zhang Mushi Art Briefs". Mr. Zhang Mushi is a famous contemporary poet, and together with Kou Mengbi and Chen Zongshu, he is known as one of the three Ci writers in Jinmen.

Zhang Mushi died in Tianjin on May 21, 2011, at the age of 84.
