First of all, if you think your handwriting is getting uglier, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the handwriting is really ugly. It may be that your aesthetics have improved. Because when you first start practicing, you may just know that your handwriting is not good-looking. After a period of practice, you have already gained a certain foundation. If you look at your handwriting again, you will have such problems, which proves that you have made progress.
Secondly, if you feel that your writing is not good for a long time, it may be that it is really not good. Don’t be blindly optimistic. You need to ask the teacher for help in diagnosis, and don’t work behind closed doors. If you continue on the wrong path, you will only go in the opposite direction.
Again, look back at your copybooks to see if they are those written by calligraphers. Try not to make mistakes and make them into printed copybooks that look like vases. If the first step is to select the copybooks, If you make a mistake, then wouldn’t all the subsequent efforts be in vain?
So, practicing calligraphy itself is correct. Check whether it is the situation I just mentioned. In addition, here are a few more points for reference:
1. Learn to read posts. Reading the calligraphy is to have a "heart-to-heart" conversation with the famous calligrapher. Read the frame structure of the calligraphy, see how the strokes of the calligraphy complement and echo, see how the "Heaven Overturner" uses the upper and wider force to make the lower part safe, and see what the "Earth Carrier" does. The width at the bottom makes the upper part stable. See how the oblique body is straight in the middle, and how the straight body is in the middle to express wonder. Reading copybooks is not just about reading hard-pen calligraphy. It is best to read famous calligraphy calligraphy works by ancient calligraphers such as Wang Xizhi and Yan Zhenqing. Only in this way can we broaden our horizons and have a certain aesthetic height.
2. Step by step. Practice strokes first and then practice combinations; first trace and then copy. Only by keeping the words "in your heart" can you write with "spirit" as soon as you start writing.
3. Persevere. You must write every day, and it does not need to take up too much time, but you must not "fish for three days and dry the net for two days." When practicing calligraphy, attention should be paid to overcoming two shortcomings: one is blindness, and the other is impatience. Practicing calligraphy also practices "heart" and "qi". This is true for teachers, and so is it for scholars. If you can do this and use scientific and effective training methods, will you still be afraid of not being able to write beautiful handwriting?
