Ou Yangxun is one of the four masters of regular script (Ou Yangxun, Yan Zhenqing, Liu Gongquan and Zhao Mengfu). Famous calligraphers in the early Tang Dynasty, together with other three contemporary calligraphers (Yu Shinan, Chu Suiliang and Xue Qi), are called the four great calligraphers in the early Tang Dynasty. Because his son Ouyang Tong is also good at calligraphy, he is also called "Big Europe". Ou Yangxun is known as the first regular script in Tang Dynasty for his rigorous brushwork and precipitous brushwork. He and Yu Shinan were both famous for their calligraphy in the early Tang Dynasty, also known as "Ou Yu". Later generations saw danger in peace with their books, and Xi Zhi, the first one, was named "Ou Ti".
The famous representative work of European style is The Inscription of Liquan in Jiucheng Palace. In 632 AD, the inscription of Liquan in Jiucheng Palace was engraved in Linyou (now Shaanxi). Wei Zhi wrote, Ou Yangxun wrote. Describe that Emperor Taizong discovered Liquan during his summer vacation in Jiucheng Palace. The brushwork is vigorous and graceful, and there is also proper limit. It is the ideological work of Ou Yangxun in his later years, and it has been highly praised by scholars.
