Why is the origin of the Chinese Red Army called the Red Army?

The name "Red Army" comes from a couplet. 1927 Mao Zedong led the autumn harvest uprising after the August 7th meeting. This army is called the Revolutionary Army of Workers and Peasants. In the same year 1 13 10, tens of thousands of people took part in the jute uprising in Hubei, and the troops were called peasant self-defense forces. Early the next morning, the Peasant Self-Defense Forces captured the county seat of Huang An in one fell swoop and established the democratic regime of workers and peasants-the peasant government of Huang An County.

Wu, a famous local calligrapher, was in high spirits and wrote a couplet: I hate the green forest, and I wear blue in the daytime and bury it in the night; After recovering Huang An, let us see the blue sky and purple air, and all the people gathered around the Red Army. This pair of couplets is posted on both sides of the county gate. The word 10, which represents color, is cleverly embedded in couplets, and only red is used to symbolize the peasant self-defense forces of revolutionary forces. Since then, the title of "Red Army" has been used.

1April, 928, Zhu De and Chen Yi led the rest of the Nanchang Uprising and the peasant army from southern Hunan to Jinggangshan, where they joined forces with the autumn harvest uprising troops led by Mao Zedong to form the most powerful workers and peasants armed forces at that time, forming the Fourth Army of the Chinese Workers and Peasants Revolutionary Army. On May 25th, the Central Committee issued Document No.51-Military Work Outline, which clearly stipulated: "It can be officially named the Red Army, and the name of the original revolutionary army of workers and peasants can be cancelled."

Soon, Mao Zedong and Zhu De officially renamed the Fourth Army of the Revolutionary Army of Workers and Peasants as the Fourth Army of the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants according to the instruction letter of the Central Committee on June 4th that "your army can be officially renamed the Red Army". Then, the National Revolutionary Army of Workers and Peasants was ordered to change its name to Red Army.
