History of Baiyi Temple

Also known as Baiyi Law School, one of the four major law schools in China, one of the famous Buddhist temples in China, and the first Galand in Bozhou, it is named after the worship of Guanyin Bodhisattva, a scholar in white. Located at the west end of Jiaotong Road in Bozhou City, the temple is a key open temple in Anhui Province and a provincial key cultural relics protection unit.

In the sixth year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1649), Baiyi Dharma Hall was founded by monks, and then expanded successively by Miao Zhan, a monk from Huashan Mountain, Desheng, a blind monk from Wutai Mountain, and Dong Jiwen, a drug dealer from Shanxi Province. Its scale and architecture are magnificent. To commemorate the blind monk Desheng and drug dealer Dong Jiwen, the gate of Baiyi Court faces northwest and Shanxi. The word "101 Fa Yuan" on the stone tablet of Shanmen was written by Mr. Deng Shiru, a famous calligrapher in Qianlong period. At present, the White House was built with the donation of a gentleman living in Hong Kong. The gate has three double eaves and glazed tile roof. There are four statues of donkey kong on both sides of the gate. Daxiong Hall is the main building, with five halls wide, and the back hall is located on the north side of the courtyard, with five rooms and more than fifty rooms. The religious facilities are complete, and the incense is flourishing on the first and fifteenth days. It is the tradition of the hospital to send Laba porridge every year and hold the annual Laba porridge release activity. By then, more than 1 10,000 citizens will enjoy the traditional laba porridge for free. Every Christmas and the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are released. Monks in the hospital have morning and evening classes of Buddhism every day.
