Meixiaoxiao Street, located in the northwest of Chongqing's main urban area, starts from Qingsi in the north and ends at Zhongshan No.3 Road in the east, with a length of 0.24 km and a carriageway width of 10.3- 19.8 m, belonging to asphalt pavement. One end of the street is adjacent to the former site of Chongqing Radio and Television Courtyard and the Municipal Procuratorate, and the other end is Niujiaotuo Bus Station and the county long-distance passenger ticket office. The whole street is the main traffic artery in Shangqingsi area.

Between streets: the big life of small streets

Although it is adjacent to the famous Shangqing Temple in Chongqing, the streets of the Academy of Fine Arts are so ordinary that countless people who are in a hurry always forget to look at her. Narrow, old and secular asphalt pavement is full of urban flavor. You can hardly even compare her with the streets with rich historical background in the mountain city. Even the most romantic seeker, as long as he takes a step and turns a corner on the next slope, will reach the end in only three minutes, leaving only a thick ink fragrance, and he doesn't know what color to write on this street.

This street is too ordinary. Different from many famous Fang Jie ancient roads in Chongqing, this street in the Academy of Fine Arts is like an old friend who has been with us for many years, and it is too familiar. Therefore, we should look for her with our heart, appreciate her with our heart and write about her seriously. Gradually, we found that this short ordinary street has everything: the most convenient transportation station, the fastest accommodation place and the most attractive noodle restaurant. Here, there is the most intimate beauty and fragrance in Chongqing.

It's best to stroll around the street of American College on an empty stomach, because when you walk down the street, your sight will be dazzled by the signs of various special pasta dishes: Dalian dumplings with thin skin and thick stuffing, spicy and delicious Laoma wonton, instant soup dumplings, soup rice noodles, and dazzling Lamian Noodles, burning noodles, pot helmets, pancakes and wonton ... You can taste them here whenever you go.

If you are in a good mood, you can walk to the end of the street, where you can find an old woman who polishes your shoes, and then listen to her recall the fleeting time in the streets of American colleges and universities. The old woman has been shining shoes on the streets of American colleges for sixty years. She kindly opened her speaker to me, just as she always cordially opened her heart to people who were anxious to take care of her business: "When I was shining shoes here, the tall building next to me was not repaired, and now it's the same every day!" More and more people come here to shine shoes. I polished a pair of red high heels when I opened this morning, and the business will be booming! "I smiled and listened to her talk about Kan Kan. Looking at the 90-year-old, her wrinkled face still shines brightly, and my leather shoes look brand-new under her quick cleaning. At this moment, all the fatigue and dust in my heart polluted by life were washed clean in the hands of this ordinary old man; All the feelings and consciousness of life in my mind suddenly have a new view of this ordinary street.

Above calligraphy: the great art of small streets

Speaking of the name of American school street, it has its own origin. As we all know, Chongqing is an ancient city with a long history, and the names of many streets in the city are closely related to the city's history, culture, location advantages and business dealings. Some streets are named after features such as topography, landform and orientation, such as Daliangzi, Xiaoshizi and Qixinggang. Some streets are obviously religious, such as Chang'an Temple Street, Longwangmiao Street and Yue Se Tangxiang. As the political center of eastern Sichuan, Chongqing enjoys convenient transportation, developed commerce and trade, and prosperous small handicraft workshops. Therefore, there are many streets named after this, such as Du You Street, Ciqi Street, Mi Ting Street and Datong Street. These long streets and short lanes are criss-crossing and full of flowers, which not only constitute the magnificent or profound urban context of Chongqing, but also record a dusty history, which makes the older generation of Chongqing people know a lot about them and makes the new generation of the city relish and yearn for them.

However, the street of American College is not named after Chongqing's geographical advantages, commerce, government and celebrities. Although at first glance, it seems that we can't taste her artistic flavor from the appearance of Meiyuan Street, it is interesting that this street is named after art and is the most representative street in Chongqing with its school name.

1926, Yang Gong, a longevity person in Chongqing, felt that his hometown needed to train a group of artistic talents, so he raised a sum of money and founded Southwest Art College in Zhangjia Garden, Chongqing. Yang Gong is a classmate who went to Paris with Xu Beihong and studied painting in France. After the establishment of Southwest Art College, he became the principal himself. After that, the school site first moved from Zhangjia Garden to Tieban Street in the city, and then moved from Tieban Street to Shangqing Temple outside the city.

At that time, there were normal universities, general education, western painting and music departments in southwest America, with about 300 teachers and students. During the Anti-Japanese War, famous artists such as China painter Zhang Yuguang, musician Shamei and Liu Shufang all taught in Southwest Art College. At that time, the Southwest Academy of Fine Arts was full of peaches and plums, full of string songs and famous teachers. Later, due to frequent air raids by Japanese planes, Southwest Art College was moved to Yudongxi, Baxian County, and the school site was given to the Propaganda Department of the Kuomintang Central Committee. Until 1950, Southwest Art College closed, and all the teachers and students moved to sichuan fine arts institute. This school will become history forever.

For twenty-four years, Southwest Art College has delivered a large number of artistic and musical talents to the social hometown of catalpa. It is precisely because of the establishment of Southwest Art College Street that this street was named "Art College Street". 1940, the municipal government widened the road surface. The name of the street was once changed to "Zhongyu Branch Road" until 1949, and its name was restored to "American College Street", which has been used ever since.

In the blink of an eye. Today's American University Street has engraved the once glorious history on the blue street sign, but the artistic context has never been buried by the dust of time. Visitors can still see the future and hope of calligraphy and painting in American College Street. Strolling through the streets, you can see that the lintel of Chongqing Calligraphy Art Center stands proudly in a quiet place. In order to inherit the calligraphy culture, there are not only many calligraphy talents gathered here, but also calligraphy art exhibitions are held regularly. Among the participating authors, the oldest is 96 and the youngest is only 20. The works on display cover five styles: seal script, official script, regular script, running script and cursive script, all of which are historical classics.

It is hard to imagine that this is the connotation and style of school streets in the United States for many years. When the temperament of the book and the atmosphere of the market are skillfully combined, a different vivid picture is drawn in my heart. There is no shortage of beauty in life, only the eyes that find beauty. The beauty of American school street is two-sided. On the one hand, it is hidden between the busy streets, on the other hand, it is deposited on the flowing calligraphy, and the two sides are combined into one, outlining the most approachable and beautiful life.

There are still lingering snacks on the street. In a blink of an eye, in the depths of that small street, bookishness has never been taken away by time. On the street of American college, she still smiles at the years, and lives a long life with people living in this street at will, waving Chinese style and wisdom.
