A Taoist priest in the Tang Dynasty was regarded as an immortal by the post-Taoism, and was the most widely circulated among the Eight Immortals. The surname is Lu, and the word Dong Bin. It is generally believed that Lv Dongbin was born in Zhao Xianli, Yongle County (now Yongle Town, Ruicheng County, Shaanxi Province) on April 14th of the lunar calendar in the year of Bingzi (796, the 12th year of Zhenyuan). Some people say that he was from Jingzhao (now Xi 'an, Shaanxi) in the late Tang Dynasty.
