Inscription on Bamboo Fan
It is said that once, Wang Xizhi went to a village. An old woman was selling a basket of hexagonal bamboo fans at the market. That kind of bamboo fan was very simple, without much decoration, and did not attract the interest of passers-by. It seemed that it could not be sold, and the old woman was very worried. When Wang Xizhi saw this, he sympathized with the old woman and went up to her and said, "You have no paintings or words on this bamboo fan, so of course you can't sell it. How about I inscribe it for you?" The old woman didn't know Wang Xizhi. Seeing how enthusiastic he was, I gave him the bamboo fan to write. Wang Xizhi picked up his pen and wrote five words on each fan, then returned them to the old woman. The old woman was illiterate and felt that his writing was very sloppy and she was very unhappy. Wang Xizhi comforted her and said, "Don't worry. Tell the person who bought the fan that it was written by Wang Youjun." As soon as Wang Xizhi left, the old woman did as he asked. When people at the market saw that it was Wang Youjun's calligraphy, they all rushed to buy it. A basket of bamboo fans was sold out immediately.
Three points into the wood
Wang Xizhi of the Jin Dynasty, named Yishao, was a rare talent in the world. He was good at calligraphy at the age of seven. When he was twelve, he saw the ancient "Bi Shuo" on his father's pillow and stole it to read. His father (after discovering it) asked: "Why did you steal my secret book?" Wang Xizhi laughed and did not answer. His mother said, "Look at "Bi Shuo"." His father saw that he was young and was afraid that he would not be able to keep the secret. He said to Wang Xizhi: "When you grow up, I will teach you." Wang Xizhi sincerely asked his father: "Let me use it now. If I wait until I become an adult, I am afraid that my childhood talent will be buried." His father was very happy. , so I gave it to him. In less than a month, my calligraphy has improved greatly. After meeting, Mrs. Wei said to Wang Ce, who was the Taichang official: "Wang Xizhi must have read "The Book of Bi Shuo". Recently, I saw that his calligraphy has a mature and steady style." Mrs. Wei said with tears: " This kid will definitely be more famous than me." Emperor Jin was going to the northern suburbs to offer sacrifices, and asked Wang Xizhi to write his congratulations on a wooden board and then send workers to carve it. The engraver chipped away at the wooden board layer by layer and found that Wang Xizhi's calligraphy ink had been printed all the way into the wooden board. He cut into a three-point depth before hitting the bottom! The woodworkers marveled at Wang Xizhi's powerful brushstrokes, his superb calligraphy skills, and the strength of his brushstrokes that could penetrate wood three-thirds of the way! Although the legend itself is a bit exaggerated, it is a very appropriate metaphor for good calligraphy skills and thorough analysis of problems!
Calligraphy is exchanged for white geese
The calligraphy sage Wang Xizhi liked geese very much. He believed that raising geese not only cultivates sentiments, but also enables one to learn some calligraphy theories from observing the movements of geese. One time, Wang Xizhi went out to play and saw a group of beautiful white geese, which he wanted to buy. After asking, he found out that these geese were raised by a Taoist priest nearby, so he approached the Taoist priest and wanted to discuss buying the geese with him. The Taoist priest When he heard that the famous Wang Xizhi wanted to buy it, he said: As long as Wang Youjun can copy a copy of "Huang Ting Jing" for me, I will give him some geese. Wang Xizhi readily agreed, and this became the story of the book being exchanged for white geese.
Tan Fu Dong Bed
Tan Fu Dong Bed, also called Dong Bed Tan Bel. The protagonist of the story is Wang Xizhi. Wang Xizhi was selected as the quick son-in-law by Xi Jian, the Taiwei of the dynasty. This is the origin of "Dong Bed Kuai Son-in-law". Dong Bed's fast son-in-law is also called "Dong Bed's charming son-in-law" or "Dong Bed's charming guest". Xi Jian had a daughter, who was twenty-eight years old. Her name was Xi Xuan, whose nickname was Zifang. He was born with talents and good looks, and Xi Jian's love was like a pearl in his palm. Xi Jian wanted to choose a son-in-law for his daughter. Xi Jian felt that Prime Minister Wang Dao's family had many children. He heard that all of them were talented and beautiful. Xi Jian hoped to choose a son-in-law from among the children of Prime Minister Wang's family. One morning after court, Xi Jian told Prime Minister Wang his thoughts on choosing a son-in-law. Prime Minister Wang said: "Well, I have many children in my family, so you can go to my house and choose. No matter who you choose, I will agree." Xi Jian ordered the housekeeper to come to the king's house with generous gifts. The Prime Minister's house. When the children of the palace heard that Taiwei Xi had sent someone to look for his son-in-law, they all dressed up carefully and came out to meet him. The housekeeper of the Xi Mansion looked around and felt that all the young talents in the palace were very good. Finally, the housekeeper of the Xi Mansion came to the study room in the east cross courtyard and saw a young man lying on his back on the bed against the wall. These deliberately dressed princes and nobles were all trying their best to win the lottery. On the way to the Prime Minister's Mansion, Wang Xizhi repeatedly admired the ancient stele of Cai Yong, a famous calligrapher of the Eastern Han Dynasty. He was so obsessed with it that he didn't take anything to heart. He had already forgotten all about the blind date. When he hurriedly arrived at the Prime Minister's Mansion, because the weather was too hot, he took off his coat, exposed his chest and belly, and drank tea while thinking about Cai Yong's calligraphy. Ruan Yu was shocked when he saw his expression and ignored his questions.
Later, Ruan Yu reported Wang Xizhi's exposure of his breasts and abdomen to Xi Jian. Xi Jian couldn't help but clapped his hands and said, "It's true! What a willful, frank and open-minded young man!" The housekeeper of the Xi Mansion returned to the mansion and said to Taiwei Xi Said: "There are more than 20 young masters in the palace. When they heard that Xi Mansion was looking for a son-in-law, they all rushed to be the first. Only there was a young master on the east bed, lying with his belly exposed as if nothing had happened." Xi Jian said: "Haha, he is the one I want to choose. Come on!" Xi Jian came to the palace and saw that this man was open-minded, elegant, talented and handsome, so he made a betrothal gift on the spot and chose him as his son-in-law. This is how the saying "a quick son-in-law in the east bed" comes from. This "quick son-in-law" Wang Xi later became a famous calligrapher and was called the "Sage of Calligraphy" by later generations.
Cleverly patching up Spring Festival couplets
The great calligrapher Wang Xizhi would handwrite Spring Festival couplets and post them on the door every New Year's Eve. Because his handwriting is known as "the best running script in the world", many people want to know his handwriting but it is rare. So every New Year's Eve, as soon as his Spring Festival couplets are posted, they are secretly taken away before midnight. This year, New Year's Eve came again, and Wang Xizhi still wrote the Spring Festival couplet with the eight words "Blessings come without pairs, misfortunes never come alone", leaving the lower half. People who wanted to steal the couplet saw that these eight characters were too unlucky, so they left disappointed. At the time of Yin, Wang Xizhi added the second half, and it became "Unparalleled blessings come today, and misfortunes do not come alone last night." Early the next morning, those who wanted to steal the Spring Festival couplets saw the changed appearance of the Spring Festival couplets, and they all marveled and clapped their hands. Wang Xizhi's Preface to Lanting Appreciating Wang Xizhi's "Preface to Lanting"
Wang Xizhi's running script is like flowing clouds and flowing water, among which the preface to Lanting is the best; On March 3, the ninth year of Yonghe, Emperor Mu of Jin Dynasty, the Youjun official visited Shanyin, and Forty-one people, including Sun Tongcheng and Xie An, gathered at the Lanting Pavilion in Shanyin, Kuaiji, to practice the ceremony of Yuan Fu. While drinking and composing poems, he took advantage of the excitement and wrote a preface to record the event with a specially selected rat whisker pen and silkworm cocoon paper. It has a total of 324 words, of which 20 "zhi" characters have different names. body shape and beauty. The writing of this post is like divine help, and it has the reputation of "beautiful, vigorous and unrivaled". Youjun passed it on to his descendants until the seventh generation, Sun Zhiyong, and left it to Benzai. Later, he was "cheated" into the inner court by Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty. Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty was so fascinated by his calligraphy that he ordered the calligrapher Zhao Mo and others to make several copies. The authentic works were given to the king and ministers and were buried with him in Zhaoling. During the reign of Empress Wu, Yunhuan excavated it, and the original work was recovered and kept in Xuanzong's inner palace. The carved stone was placed in the Academy of Scholars and was called "Dingwulan Xu". It passed through the Song and Jin Dynasties. However, this version is different from the ink version handed down today, and it is difficult to determine what it originally looked like.
Xizhi eats three times
Wang Xizhi is a calligrapher and a gourmet. His life's fame and achievements have a lot to do with eating. Only three of his meals are mentioned here. Once he ate it, he became a famous person. Wang Xizhi's uncle Wang Dao was the prime minister. Director Wang took him to see the minister. The minister knew that Wang Xizhi was very talented and learned, so he treated him with admiration. People at that time attached great importance to eating beef heart roast, saying that eating it could replenish the heart. Before anyone present could use the chopsticks, Shangshu personally took the beef heart roast and gave it to Wang Xizhi to eat. The guests at the same table all valued him very much and knew that he was very talented and learned, and he became a well-known person in the local area. After eating it twice, he became the son-in-law of the Taiwei. Jin Taiwei Xi Jian wanted to choose a son-in-law. He knew that Wang Dao's sons were all talented, and he wanted to choose one of them to be his quick son-in-law. Director Wang's sons were all ready for the selection, but Wang Xizhi was the only one who didn't dress up. When the people choosing a son-in-law came, they saw Wang Xizhi sitting on the bed eating biscuits. The person who chose the son-in-law went back and reported the truth to Xi Jian. After hearing this, Xi Jian said happily: "This is my perfect son-in-law!" Wang Xizhi became the son-in-law of Taiwei Xi Jian. This is where the allusion of the idiom "The Eastern Bed exposes the belly" comes from. After eating it three times, his calligraphy became more mature. Because he particularly loved geese, he often watched Canzhi's walking posture, and combined this with calligraphy, his skills became increasingly mature. There was an orphan in Kuaiji who raised a goose, which was good at singing. However, he failed to find it in the market, so he brought his relatives and friends to see it. When grandma heard that Xi's arrival was coming, she cooked the food to wait for it. Xi's family sighed and cherished the sun. There was a Taoist priest in Shanyin who, in order to write down the Virtue Sutra, raised a flock of geese to give each other his ears. Xizhi finished writing happily and returned home in a cage, feeling very happy. [7]
