"Send a Letter to an Old Friend from Badong on the River" is a five-character poem written by Li Bai, a poet of the Tang Dynasty.

The first couplet of this poem has a magnificent scene, using "waves of the Han River" and "clouds and rain in Wushan" as metaphors for the poet himself and his old friends in Badong in their respective regions; The east wind is blowing strong, and the waning moon is setting in the west.
