Tang Bohu only had two wives, and the second one was married after the death of his first wife.
Speaking of Tang Bohu, everyone knows it. "Tang Bohu Lights the Autumn Fragrance", "Three Smiles", and "Three Appointments at the Peony Pavilion" are widely circulated among the people. However, people know him more for his "romantic talent" side.
Tang Bohu was born in Qili, Gusu. He was born in the Gengyin year (1470), the 6th year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty, so he was named Tang Yin. Because he was the eldest, he was also called Tang Bohu. According to historical records, he was born in a small businessman family. His father, Tang Guangde, was forced to open a hotel in Gaoqiao, Wuchifang, Suzhou due to family difficulties. At that time, Wen Zhengming's father, Wen Lin, went to the hotel for a drink. Seeing that Tang Yin had learned a lot, he decided to let Tang Yin and Wen Zhengming work together. Zhengming also became a disciple of Shen Zhou, the founder of the Wu School of Painting. From then on, Tang Yin's painting talent was fully demonstrated. Later, together with Shen Zhou, Wen Zhengming and Qiu Ying, they were called the Four Ming Dynasties, and together with Wen Zhengming, Zhu Zhishan and Xu Zhenqing, they were called the Four Masters of Wuzhong. His painting style is delicate, euphemistic, clear and vivid, and he is especially good at landscape paintings of ladies. He is also good at calligraphy and poetry. Tang Yin's family lived in Taohuawu, north of present-day Suzhou City, so he called himself the Lord of Taohuawu. He once wrote "Song of Taohua Temple" and compared himself to the flower-picking immortal. He has been unruly since he was a child and has been called "the most romantic and talented man in the south of the Yangtze River". At the age of 29, he ranked first in the Central Provincial Examination and was known as Tang Jieyuan. During the examination, he was dismissed for being involved in a fraud case in the examination room. At this point, Tang Yin gave up his official career, traveled to famous mountains and rivers, and devoted himself to painting. In the 9th year of Zhengde (1514), he was recruited to Nanchang by King Ning of the Ming Dynasty with a large sum of money. Later, he found out that he was involved in King Ning's political conspiracy, so he pretended to be crazy and escaped and returned to his hometown. He stayed there until his death in the 3rd year of Jiajing (1524). Buried in Taohuawu North. In the 26th year of Jiajing's reign, the burial was moved to Wangjia Village, Hengtang Town. It was renovated in 1955. The cemetery was destroyed during the turmoil but was later restored.
His first wife died of illness, and his second wife left Tang Bohu because she had no hope of becoming an official. His last close friend was Shen Jiuniang, who later gave birth to a daughter for him.
As early as the Jiajing or Wanli years of the Ming Dynasty, Xiang Yuanbian's notes "Jiao Chuang Miscellaneous Records" contain the story of Tang Bohu and Qiuxiang. A little later, Zhou Xuanwei's "Jinglin Miscellaneous Notes" gave a more detailed story about Tang Bohu and Qiuxiang, which basically formed the prototype of "Three Smiles". At the end of the Ming Dynasty, Feng Menglong took the title "Tang Jieyuan Yixiao Marriage" and compiled it into the widely circulated "Warning to the World". In the late Ming Dynasty, there were also dramas such as "A Smile in Front of the Flowers" written by Meng Shunqing and "The Fate of the Flower Boat" written by Dan Renyue. They were performed in the form of stage performances and entered thousands of households. In fact, according to notes such as "Cha Yu Ke Hua" and "Ear Talk", there was indeed an incident in the history of the Ming Dynasty where a slave girl was sold into slavery, but this was a scholar named Chen Lichao. To Tang Bohu's name. According to historians' research, Qiuxiang was a prostitute in Nanjing during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty. Her surname was Lin and her name was Nuer. She was more than ten years older than Tang Bohu. Taishi Hua is from Wuxi and is 27 years younger than Tang Bohu. Therefore, Tang Bohu had no chance of getting married to "Three Smiles".
As for Wei Xiaobao, he actually has seven wives, namely Shuang'er, Princess Jianning, Fang Yi, Mu Jianping, Zeng Rou, Su Quan, and A'ke.
