Xiling Gorge
The beautiful Xiling Gorge starts from the mouth of Xiangxi River in Zigui County in the west and ends at Nanjinguan in Yichang City in the east. It is 76 kilometers long and is the longest canyon among the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River. . Because it is located to the west of the "Western Fortress of Chu" and Yiling (the ancient name of Yichang), it is called Xiling Gorge. Xiling Gorge is famous for its "danger" and "strangeness". The "strangeness" and "danger" turn into the magnificence of Xiling Gorge.
There are "three beaches" in Xiling Gorge - Xietan, Qingtan, and Kongling Beach, and "four gorges" - Dengying Gorge, Huangniu Gorge, Niugan Mafei Gorge and Bingshu Baojian Gorge. Although some of the scenery no longer exists due to the construction of the dam, the beautiful scenery of the Three Gorges remains unchanged.

⊙Nanjinguan
Our current location is Nanjinguan - the starting point of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River and the dividing line between the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River. The famous Xiling Gorge Scenic Area is built here, which is a national-level scenic spot and a provincial-level tourist resort. The main attractions are Leizu Temple, Shudianhua Village, Baima Cave, Sanyou Cave, Xialao River, Longquan Cave, and Xianren Creek. and Wuzhou Leisure Park and other attractions. After passing through Nanjinguan, the river narrows from about 2,000 meters to 300 meters, and what you see before your eyes is a magnificent picture of colorful and diverse scenery.
⊙Dengying Gorge
After passing Nanjinguan, we arrived at Dengying Gorge.
Dengying Gorge is also known as Mingyue Gorge. Although the gorge is not long, the scenery is extraordinary. It can be said that "there are no peaks or cliffs, and there are water and springs." The walls of the canyon are clear and pleasant, pure and without any color, as if they were carefully polished by heavenly craftsmen. When the clear gorge wall is set off by the clear sky, it looks like an ink Chinese painting. The cliff wall is reflected in the river, and the quiet shadow is clear and green; the rustling river water adds to the brightness and beauty. If you pass here at night, the moon will hang over the western mountains, and the "pure world" formed by the mountains and water under the moonlight is indescribable. The so-called "Mingyue Gorge" is named after it. Dengying Gorge is based on shapes. There are four strange rocks on Maya Mountain on the left side of the boat (south bank), which are exactly like the vivid image of the four monks and apprentices in "Journey to the West" who returned from the West to study for Buddhist scriptures: they put their hands on the awning and went forward to explore the path. Sun Wukong; Zhu Bajie, who is holding his belly and swinging one step at a time; Monk Sha, who is shouldering a heavy burden and following closely; Tang Monk, who is riding safely and walking slowly with his hands clasped together. The image is lifelike, vivid, lifelike, and wonderful. Whenever the sunset shines at night, looking from the gorge, it looks very much like the characters in a shadow play (locally called "Dengying Play"), hence the name Dengying Gorge.
⊙Huangniu Gorge
Not long after taking the boat to the west, looking southward, you can see a row of steep stone walls among the colorful clouds, and nine winding and drooping green ridges under the cliffs. Like nine dragons rushing across the river, it is very majestic and spectacular.
Among them, the cutest one is "monkey fishing for the moon". You see, this is the "monkey fishing for the moon". You see, the stalactites more than one meter long are hanging upside down, like a naughty monkey rushing towards the water. Do you think it looks like it?

Qutang Gorge
After passing Wu Gorge, the boat travels about 25 kilometers across the wide valley (the wide valley of Daning River) to reach the Qutang Gorge, which is famous for its "majesty". Qutang Gorge starts from Daxi Town in the east and ends at Baidi City in the west. Although the gorge is only 8 kilometers long and is the shortest of the Three Gorges, it has the majestic momentum of "controlling Bashu in the west and closing thousands of valleys, and connecting Jingchu and overwhelming mountains in the east". It is a magical natural picture and cultural and artistic corridor. Along the river, you can see the Fengxiang Gorge, Phoenix Drinking Spring, Mengliang Ladder, Hanging Monk, Fenbi Wall, Kuimen and other wonderful sights.
⊙Fengxiang Gorge
Entering Qutang Gorge, we can see three big white characters "Fengxiang Gorge" on the cliff in the north of the Yangtze River. This is Fengxiang Gorge. Fengchang Gorge is a steep cliff. There are several gaps on the cliff. Looking from a distance, there is a large gap with a stack of rectangular wooden boxes placed in it. It looks like a bellows, so it is called Bellows Gorge. Legend has it that the bellows here were stored by Lu Ban. In 1971, three herb collectors climbed to the bellows gorge and solved the mystery of the bellows. It turned out to be a rock burial left by Cubans more than 2,000 years ago.
⊙Phoenix Drinking Spring·Mengliang Ladder·Hanging Monk
Please look at the cliff in the south of the Yangtze River. There is a two-story pavilion built on the rock. Everywhere is the Phoenix Drinking Spring. There is a huge and protruding stalactite pillar, about 20 meters long and 6 meters in diameter. It hangs from the rock to the spring water, like a phoenix by the water, raising its phoenix crown and stretching its neck to drink from the spring water!
The upper reaches of Phoenix Spring is the famous "Meng Liang Ladder", a row of artificially hewn square stone holes larger than the mouth of a bowl, one after another, extending from bottom to top in a zigzag shape to the top , the local people call it "Meng Liang Ladder".
On the steep cliff next to the "Meng Liang Ladder", there is a strange stone protruding, which looks like a bald and barefoot monk hanging upside down. It is called the "Hanging Monk Stone". According to legend, after the famous Northern Song Dynasty general Yang Ye was killed, his body was buried on the "Wangxiang Terrace", a platform on the hillside of Baiyan Mountain. In order to steal the corpse, his general Meng Liang secretly drove a boat into Qutang, cut holes in the rocks on the cliff, inserted iron rods, built wooden ladders, and climbed up. As soon as he reached the middle of the mountain, he was discovered by a monk. The monk pretended to be a cock crow and deceived Meng Liang. Meng Liang mistakenly thought that dawn was about to break, and he was afraid that people would find out, so he had to turn back halfway, but his success failed. Meng Liang was so angry that he hung the monk upside down on the rock. In fact, these stone holes are the remains of plank roads built by working people in ancient times, and the "hanging monk stone" is just a common stalactite in limestone areas.
However, after the Three Gorges impoundment in 2009, all three scenic spots will be submerged. But don’t worry, as the saying goes, the old won’t go and the new won’t come. After the Three Gorges is impounded, there will be many more scenic spots along the Three Gorges for everyone to enjoy, and the beauty of the Three Gorges will remain the same.
⊙Kuimenguan·Fenbitang
The river at the mouth of the gorge is less than 100 meters wide. The cliffs on both sides are like knives chopping, the clouds and sky are aligned, the water is fast and the waves are high, and the mountains are It is steep, and there are five big characters on the rocks, "Kuimen is the most heroic in the world", which is the west gate of the Three Gorges - Kuimen is closed.
We can see that the mighty Yangtze River suddenly narrows here, with the narrowest point less than 10 meters, forming a spectacular scene of "many waters will flow into thousands of rivers, and Qutang will compete for one". Since ancient times, Kuimen has been known as the hero of the world. On the stone wall near the river are carved the ten characters of Sun Yuanliang's "Kuimen is the hero of the world, ships and planes pass lightly". In addition, there are also the words "Wei Zai, Kuimen" and the running script "Kuimen, Qutang" inscribed by Li Duan are still there. It’s vivid in my mind. Now, this Kui Gate is worth a hundred times more and has become the most valuable gate in the world. Why do you say that? The cliffs on both sides of the river are covered with inscriptions from past dynasties, in seal script, official script, regular script and running script. They are as strict as a hall wall covered with calligraphy and ink treasures, so it is named "Fenbi Hall". After the Three Gorges Project impounds water, the inscriptions on Fenbitang will be submerged. The state has taken protective measures such as on-site protection and cutting and restoration. Some of the inscriptions will be reproduced in higher places. "Powder Wall Hall" is also one of the scenic spots that will be completely submerged after the water is impounded, so everyone should be lucky to still have a glimpse of these scenic spots!
⊙ Baidi City
After passing Kuimen Pass, we arrived at the end of the Three Gorges - Baidi City. Baidi City, located on the north bank of the Yangtze River, has been known as the "City of Poetry" since ancient times. Baidi City was originally called Ziyang City. It was built during the Xinmang Dynasty when Gongsun Shu separatized Sichuan. Because it was said that there was a well in the city, and the white mist in the well rose into the sky, its shape was like a white dragon, soaring into the sky, so Gongsun Shu called himself White Emperor, and the city was renamed Baidi City. After Gongsun Shu was eliminated by Liu Xiu, Emperor Guangwu of the Eastern Han Dynasty, his descendants built a Baidi Temple here. Baidicheng has always been famous at home and abroad because of the widespread spread of the story of the Three Kingdoms "Liu Bei Tuogu". After the Three Gorges Project impounds water, the water will flood halfway up the mountainside, creating a mist-shrouded, fairyland-like scenery.
