Which is more difficult, calligraphy or painting?

To be a calligrapher or painter, I mean a real person. It's quite difficult, from zero to a little achievement. Calligraphy is much more difficult than painting. Painting can be manifested in all aspects. You may use colors well, you may have exquisite brushstrokes, you may have exquisite layouts, and so on. But calligraphy is a writing skill, and China people can read and have poor basic skills. You can see it at a glance, even people who don't know calligraphy. This is the difference.
