It was in the history of Yuan Dynasty 100 years that many famous painters and calligraphers appeared. One of the most successful is Zhao Mengfu. He created a new style of painting. In calligraphy, he is proficient in seal script, official script, regular script, running script and cursive script, and is famous all over the world. He was one of the most accomplished painters and calligraphers in ancient China. These achievements are inseparable from his decades of hard work and modesty.
Zhao Mengfu began to practice calligraphy at the age of five. For decades, he always got up every morning and began to practice calligraphy after washing his hands. There are thousands of words a day and tens of thousands of words a day. In his early years, he copied Qian, a monk of Sui Dynasty, and Wang Xizhi's Preface to Lanting. He copied Qian's works many times, which is really perfect.
Tian Liangqing, a calligrapher, bought a copy of Qian Zi Wen from the market. With his profound calligraphy skills, the first thing that comes to mind is the calligraphy of the Tang Dynasty. Finally, he realized that it was written by Zhao Mengfu.
He took this volume "Thousand Characters" and asked Zhao Mengfu to write it. Zhao Mengfu wrote truthfully: "I wrote this a few years ago, but I didn't expect the words I practiced casually to be sold." It turns out that Zhao Mengfu collected all kinds of ancient posts extensively and carefully copied the handwriting of all calligraphers. Therefore, he can absorb the strengths of various schools, blend into one, and form his own unique style, which is called "Zhao Ti".
Zhao Mengfu pays great attention to brushwork, and thinks it takes a lot of effort to write bold words. When he teaches his son to write, he often stands quietly behind his son and suddenly pulls out the pen holder in his hand. If the pen tube can't be pulled out, he will laugh happily; If the pen tube is pulled out, he will naturally be very unhappy and will punish his son.
Zhao Mengfu is very good at imitating calligraphers of past dynasties. On one occasion, he got a copy of Zhuang Huaifu written by Mi Fei, a calligrapher in the Northern Song Dynasty. Unfortunately, a few lines are missing in the middle. So he found the same engraving as the original and copied down the missing lines. He wrote six or seven pieces of paper repeatedly, always feeling dissatisfied, and could not help but sigh: "Today's handwriting is not as good as that of the ancients!" We must fill in the blanks with printed words.
In fact, Zhao Mengfu was already a famous calligrapher at that time, but he was still so modest and prudent that he was worth learning.
Zhao Mengfu loved drawing horses since he was a child. Even if he picks up a piece of waste paper, he will draw a horse and throw it away. The horses he painted are as varied and lifelike as living horses. He also likes painting plum and bamboo and mountains and rivers. His paintings of plum and bamboo make people feel lofty. When I started painting, it seemed careless at first, and I dyed the paper a little. Gradually, mountains and trees appeared on the paper, and finally I drew a beautiful picture.
When Zhao Mengfu was alive, his paintings and calligraphy were already very precious works of art .. At that time, many people imitated his works. His works are not only famous in China, but also loved by foreigners.
An Indian monk came to China, not far from Wan Li, and asked Zhao Mengfu to write for him. Later, he brought Zhao Mengfu's words back to India, and they became works of art in their country.
