Zhao Mengfu, born in Xing Wu (now Huzhou, Zhejiang), was an official, calligrapher, painter and poet from the end of Southern Song Dynasty to the beginning of Yuan Dynasty. He is the grandson of Song Taizu XI and a direct descendant of Zhao, the king of Qin.
Zhao Mengfu was famous in the early Yuan Dynasty. When Yuan Shizu Kublai Khan summoned the veteran of the Southern Song Dynasty in Jiangnan, he personally named Zhao Mengfu. When I first met Zhao Mengfu, I was surprised to call him a "fairy man"!
It is recorded in the Biography of Zhao Mengfu in the Yuan Dynasty: "There are Meng Ke, Li Bai and Song Suzizhan who enjoy literature. It is also said that Meng Yichun is knowledgeable, and he bypassed Buddhism and the purpose of his later years, which is beyond everyone's reach. Meng Qian's poems are beautiful and elegant, which makes people want to fly out of the dust. Seal script, official script, regular script, regular script and cursive script are the crowns of ancient and modern times, hence the name of the world. "
According to this historical data, Yuan Shizu Kublai Khan often discussed people related to literature with ministers around him. He thought that Zhao Mengfu could be on a par with Li Bai and Su Shi, and said that Zhao Mengfu was virtuous and knowledgeable, and his calligraphy was the best in the world!
In fact, this historical record is quite correct. Zhao Mengfu was indeed highly valued by Yuan Shizu at that time, but he was also branded as a "two-minister thief". His calligraphy was world-famous at that time. It is said that an old monk in Tianzhu came to China, not far from Wan Li, and all he wanted was to get Mo Bao in Zhao Mengfu and bring it back as a national treasure.
Zhao Mengfu's calligraphy, learn from others, he first learned the "Four Spirits" that Song Gaozong and Zhao Gou were proud of. Later, after collecting the whole volume of Chunhua Pavilion Post, he devoted himself to studying ancient calligraphy, especially "Two Kings", which was highly praised by Zhao Mengfu.
As we all know, Zhao Mengfu's research on Wang Xizhi was "unprecedented, and there was no one after him".
As he wrote in his later years, this volume of running script is the masterpiece "Thousand Characters".
Qian Wen Zi was written by Zhou Xingsi, a gifted scholar in Liang Wudi in the Northern and Southern Dynasties. It selected 1000 different words from Wang Xizhi's works, and then compiled such a wonderful article.
Zhao Mengfu was the best litterateur of all ages, and the monk Zhiyong was one, and later, that is.
Zhao Mengfu has a deep research on thousands of words. When he was a child, he used thousands of words. He himself once said, "In the past twenty years, thousands of books have been written!"
And this volume of running script "Thousand Characters" written in his later years is the most classic one.
Zhan Jingfeng, a calligrapher in the Ming Dynasty, commented: "This volume is elegant, round and beautiful, and it is Cheng Zhi's proud work."
People who are good at this are impressed by the accuracy of his writing from beginning to end. Throughout the whole work, there is no slack from beginning to end. Between the lines, it is elegant as a fairy, which perfectly shows the style of Zhao's calligraphy.
To put it bluntly, Zhao Mengfu's exquisite word 1000 is beyond the reach of later generations.
