Yang Zijing (192 1~2004), a native of Mengxian County, Henan Province, is the owner of Heyang Wanderer, Pulsatilla and Fuluzhai. Before his death, he was a member of China Calligraphers Association, executive director of Xinjiang Calligraphers Association, executive director of China Railway Calligraphers Association, honorary president of Xinjiang Veteran Cadres Calligraphy and Painting Society, member of Xinjiang Calligraphy and Painting Research Association and honorary president of Xinjiang Western Literature Research Association. He studied under Mr. Yu Youren, a contemporary calligrapher, and Mr. Wang Zhongchao, a famous calligrapher (personal secretary of Zhang Xueliang). Yang Zijing's calligraphy is very extensive, especially good at it. His works are based on two kings and Yan Shu. They are atmospheric, dignified and steady, and their brushwork is comfortable and unrestrained, round and rich, and they are natural, with the beauty of being moderate and broad. Mr. Yang Zijing is not only profound in calligraphy, but also knowledgeable, and his couplets are also very steady. In the summer of 2000, a calligraphy exhibition jointly sponsored by Xinjiang Calligraphers Association, Xinjiang Painting and Calligraphy Institute and Xinjiang Railway Newspaper was exhibited in Urumqi, with nearly 100 pieces of Mr. Wang's calligraphy works. Lao Yang has profound calligraphy skills and poetic accomplishment, and enjoys a high reputation in Xinjiang literary and art circles. As Mr. Min, the president of Xinjiang Painting and Calligraphy Research Institute, often said, among the older generation of calligraphers, there is a culture. In the preface to Calligraphy Collection, Mr. Min said: "Lao Yang is an elder I respect", "Few very old calligraphers are still active in Xinjiang calligraphy circle, and Lao Yang's life is a great blessing for the calligraphy circle". Calligraphy originated in Europe, Liu, Zhao, Wei Bei, and it is good at cursive script, with ups and downs in calligraphy style, which is quite central to China. His works and biographies have been included in Grand View of Contemporary Calligraphy Seal Cutting, Who's Who of Modern Calligraphy in China, Boutique of Contemporary China Calligraphy Art, Member's Guide of China Calligraphers Association, Who's Who of Contemporary Art in China, etc. Yang Zijing's calligraphy collection was published.
