The best time to visit Yue Fei Temple: Spring and Autumn
Yue Fei is a highly respected national hero in Chinese history. His hometown is in Tangyin County of this city. Get off at Tangyin Station on the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway. As soon as you exit the station, you can see the bronze statue of Yue Fei standing on the granite foundation stone.
There are many sites related to Yue Fei in Tangyin County, and the Yue Fei Temple is located in the county seat. It is unknown when the Yuefei Temple was first built. The current site was rebuilt in the first year of Jingtai in the Ming Dynasty (AD 1450), covering an area of ??more than 4,000 square meters and nearly 100 temples. Jingzhongfang is the head room of Yuefei Temple and is a beautifully constructed wooden archway. On the eight-character walls on both sides, there are 1.8-meter-high Chinese characters "loyalty" and "filial piety" carved on both sides. Entering the threshold, you will see five iron statues kneeling under the stone steps, namely Qin Hui, Wang Shi, Wan Qiyu, Zhang Jun, and Wang Jun who killed Yue Fei. Behind the kneeling statue stands a gold and bronze statue, with angry eyes and sword in hand, condescending and suppressing Qin Hui and others. The couplets on both sides read:
Kneel down in front of the steps with unkempt hair and think about the prime minister of the past
Look at the general of today with the crown in his crown.
Born from a peasant Yue Fei of the family was a famous military strategist in the Southern Song Dynasty and a famous general who fought against the Jin Dynasty. He was extremely intelligent since he was a child and loved poetry and books. He studied martial arts with a master when he was young, and joined the army at the age of 20. His mother once tattooed the four words "Serve the Country with Loyalty" on his back. Yue Fei led his army to fight against the Jin soldiers, winning six battles and six victories, and achieved many military exploits. However, Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty, together with the treacherous Prime Minister Qin Song, wanted to seek peace with Jin. They won 12 gold medals in one day, forced Yue Fei to withdraw his troops, and dismissed him from his post. In the end, 39-year-old Yue Fei was killed in Hangzhou on "unfounded" charges. The people in his hometown have infinite admiration for Yue Fei, and hate Qin Hui and other traitorous officials deeply.
In Yue Fei Temple, there are many steles. There is a pavilion in each of the east and west courtyards. The east is called "Su Zhan" and the west is called "Tourning". There are nearly 300 inscriptions in the courtyard, which is a large treasure house of calligraphy, literature and art in the Central Plains region.
Go through the Yimen and look north from the Royal Stele Pavilion to the majestic and solemn main hall. The main hall is 10 meters high and magnificent. In the center of the hall is a colorful seated statue of Yue Fei, majestic and lifelike. Above the statue is a huge gilded plaque reading "Give me back my rivers and mountains".
The east and west wings are the exhibition hall of Yue Fei’s life and deeds. The backyard is the dormitory hall, where Yue Fei's famous calligraphy treasure "Chu Shi Biao" stone carvings are displayed. Behind the dormitory hall there are Yue Yun Temple, Sizi Temple, Yue Ke Temple, Xiao'e Temple, etc.
