His father, Chen Zuji, was one of the first librarians of the Central Research Institute of Literature and History. Shiguang has been influenced by the traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting art since he was a child, and he likes to write and draw. After achieving certain achievements in Western painting creation, he turned to Chinese calligraphy and painting. He draws on the knowledge of colors, shapes and structures of Western paintings and integrates them into the creation of Chinese paintings. Together with his attainments in calligraphy and the artistic charm of traditional Chinese paintings, his works are unique and refreshing. Chen Shiguang chose animals as his artistic objects based on his own hobbies and ideals. He uses animals to convey his thoughts, feelings and aesthetic ideals, and at the same time uses animals full of life and vitality to give full play to his artistic skills. Shiguang has painted many lively and lovely ligers, dogs, horses and cows over a period of time. The creatures he describes are like gods, vivid and have their own personalities: the cow is kind and honest, the dog is loyal and clever, the lion is invincible and even ferocious. In his writing, the tiger has become a loving mother and child, gentle and kind, and has lost its tigerishness and become more humane. His depictions of the animal world reflected his love for the human world and his praise of life. In the end, Shiguang chose to specialize in painting horses. In human real life, horses have made the greatest historical contribution. They are a powerful pillar of stability and a symbol of national strength. Therefore, kings of all dynasties have loved horses since ancient times. Emperor Ming of the Tang Dynasty had as many as 400,000 famous horses in his stables. Therefore, there were many famous horse painters in the Tang Dynasty. Those who recorded history include Cao Ba, Chen Hong, Wei Yan, and Han Gan. Especially Han Gan's achievements were the most outstanding, and his influence on future generations was also inspiring. Most importantly, his famous saying of "taking a real horse as a teacher" is still followed by painters. Later, Li Gonglin in the Song Dynasty, Ren Renfa in the Yuan Dynasty, and Xu Beihong in modern times became household names. Painters of different eras have different spirits of the times in their horses: the horses in Han Gan's paintings have a strong and docile character, with strong bones and muscles, which not only shows the powerful spirit of the times of the Tang Empire, but also has the unconquerable character of a divine horse. Momentum; Xu Beihong's "Running Horse" is intended to "return to democracy after a hundred battles in the mountains and rivers, and eradicate the rugged road to peace"; while Shiguang's Horse, on the basis of inheriting the achievements of the previous masters, focuses on the unrestrained free-spirited spiritual temperament and the focus on Chinese and Western The fusion of painting methods, incorporating calligraphy into painting, using ink color to shape volume, making full use of the seepage performance of rice paper, the writing is flexible and casual, not deliberately demanding work, not focusing on the complete reality of details, especially the expression and momentum of the horse. , striving to pursue the agility, unrestrained and free mood of the horse. It gives the viewer a sense of relaxed and happy beauty. The galloping horses he painted are flying like the wind, and the black and white in the brush and ink are consistent, and the virtual and the real are appropriate. The painter attaches great importance to image modeling, which makes the image of the horse full of strength, weight and volume; the layout of the picture uses the horse as the main body, filling the picture Space, making full use of the blank space in a limited picture to reproduce the infinite, profound and vast realm, the galloping horse has the potential to rush out of the painting; this shows the rapid and unstoppable spirit of human beings in pursuit of freedom.
