Shenzhen Art Museum, formerly known as Shenzhen Exhibition Hall, was founded in 1976. It is the earliest art exhibition institution in Shenzhen. After the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, it was officially renamed Shenzhen Art Museum on 1987 with the approval of the municipal government. Now it covers an area of 5500m2, with a building area of 2800m2 and an exhibition hall area of1200m2.
Shenzhen Art Museum actively implements its academic orientation, carries out relevant collections, and gradually forms the collection characteristics dominated by famous classic collections in the 20th century, contemporary art in China and local art in Shenzhen. On this basis, we emphasize the diversity of collection types and carry out various types of art collections. At present, there are 4608 Chinese paintings, oil paintings, prints, sculptures, calligraphy, watercolors, cartoons, paper-cutting and photography in the collection.
