How to make artistic fonts with photoshop

Step 1

Open Photoshop and create a new document. I used a size of 192×12 pixels. Then fill the background with a dark color #1f1e1e.

Step 2

Select the background layer and remove the layer > Layer style > Gradient superposition. Select gray (#777) and white. The blending mode is changed to positive overlay, 6% opacity. The style is radial. Make sure white is in the middle. It can be seen that the edge of the image will darken after the positive stack is used. I applied this gradient through the layer style, because later I want to add a filter to the layer, and then I can try different colors.

Step 3

Now go to the filter > Mottled > Add noise. Use 2%, Gaussian distribution and make sure you select monochrome. Adding noise to the gradient is great because it can make the gradient more subtle.

step 4

let's add text. We need a calligraphy-style font. I use Champignon. You can download it from the Internet. Enter Abducted first.

step 5

now enter "by" directly below "Abducted". I use another font, "Champignon Alt S…", which you can download from the Internet. Refer to the figure below for the location of letters, and try to connect letters such as "Bs".

step 6

enter the word "Design". It is very important to connect the end of "Y" to "D", otherwise the effect will not play a good role.

step 7

to make the effect more attractive, let's add some rotating patterns. This is similar to my previous pattern tutorial. But basically, we have to import a pattern element and put it in front of the "A". I use ShutterstocK, and you can download it here.

step 8

put another element at the end of "n" in "Design". I use the same element as the previous step, only it is a little smaller.

step 9:

another pattern is connected to the "y".

Step 1

Now, you have got the text with patterns, and turn them into smart objects. In this way, we can edit at any time. Then go to the floor > Layer style > Gradient superposition. Use pink and blue, the style is linear, 9 degrees angle.

Step 11

Select the projection after gradient superposition. Use the blending mode of positive overlay, 12-degree angle, 5 pixel distance and 2 pixel size.

step 12

after setting the projection, select the bevel and relief. Use the style of inner slope, the method is smooth, and the depth is 19%. The direction is up, the size is 6 pixels, and it is softened to 8 pixels. The settings used in the shaded part are as follows: angle 12, height 3. The highlight mode uses color fade and white, and the opacity is 75%. Then the shadow mode is positive overlay and black, and the opacity is 45%. Select the outline.

14

Step 13

To copy the text layer, the first thing to do is to change it to % padding. In this way, there will be no color, but the layer style can still work on this transparent layer. Disable gradient overlay. Use bevel and relief, change the direction to downward, and increase the depth by 37%. Size 2 pixels, soften 8 pixels. Now look at the shadow. Change the angle to 145 and the height to 25. Highlight mode is color filter, color white, 1% opacity, and shadow mode is %.

step 14

copy the text layer again to make it more effective.

Step 15

Copy the text layer again, but this time let's edit the bevel and relief. Changes are softened to 1 pixel. Highlight mode uses color to lighten 7%. Shadows are also disabled.

step 16

now, let's create a pattern in the design. Create a new file 4 pixels wide and 2 pixels high.

step 17

adjust the background layer to a width of 2 pixels. Fill the layer with a linear gradient from white to different transparency colors. Use an opacity gradient of 1% to 4%. Refer to the image below.

Step 18

Edit > Define the pattern. Name it stripes, so you have a good pattern.

step 19

go back to our design, add a new layer and fill it with the pattern we created.

Step 2

Rotate the pattern layer and change its blending mode to soft light.

step 21

press the command key and click the text layer on the layers panel. In this way, you have created a text layer selection. This is very simple and useful. After that, go to Layer > Layer mask > Show selection. The pattern will only be applied to the text.

step 22

select all text layers and copy them. Go to the layer > Merge layers. After that, go to the filter >; Fuzzy >; Gaussian blur. Use a radius of 1 pixels and press OK. Change the blending mode to color filter, which will add a good luminous effect to the image.

step 23

let's add some lighting effects. I use the stored photos to create the halo. You can use the brush or the lens halo filter. The image I used is downloaded here. Put the halo in the design and change the blending mode to color filter. After that, remove the image >; Adjust > Hue and saturation. Choose coloring and change the hue until you get a color that matches the tone of the text, and the bright color exceeds the text color.

step 24

copy the light effect and move it to another letter.

step 25

repeat the halo again and move to another part of the design. Go to the image again > Adjust > Hue and saturation, and choose coloring again, and try to set the halo color to match the color of the text.

step 26

import the paper texture and put it on top of other layers. The image I used is Shutterstock's. You can download it here. Then change its mixing mode to positive overlay. The final effect
