Contemporary Significance of Art Education
Confucius, an ancient educator in China, attached great importance to aesthetic education, and put forward the theory that poetry, ceremony and music should be the foundation of people. In other words, to cultivate people, we should not only let them learn all aspects of knowledge, but also let them learn the code of conduct and be cultivated by art. Zhang Yanyuan in the Tang Dynasty made it very clear about the aesthetic function of painting: a painter, an enlightener, a helper, a poor god, a subtle feeling and a contribution to six books.
Cai Yuanpei, a modern educator, attaches great importance to aesthetic education and thinks that aesthetic education is an important part of education, and education without aesthetic education is incomplete. He believes that people who lack aesthetic education, especially those who lack art education, are pedantic, rigid, lack of creativity, lack of emotion and vitality.
