Evaluation of Works
Lin Haizhong is one of the first "Six Doctors from China and Foreign Countries" in the Department of Traditional Chinese Painting, China Academy of Art. He is good at landscapes. He likes to use vigorous and soft lines and varied dyeing to express the desolate, peaceful, quiet and clear images of landscapes. He is as clever as clumsy, so as to reveal the neutrality and harmony pursued by the painter. Simple feelings. In his works, there are old trees and lush forests, strong and vigorous, winding and resolute, and strong and upward, which are quite noble and dignified; while the beautiful rocky slopes are warm and honest, the spirit is refreshing, wild and free-spirited, and they also have the graceful manners of Confucian scholars; the lakes and mountains are beautiful The water is full and the waves are rippling, the mountains are heavy but the vegetation is lush, the space is elegant, the outline is quiet, the nature and man are united and the thoughts are innocent, full of endless life interest, you can swim, live, see and appreciate, reaching the level of Jiangnan literati painting. The aesthetic conception pursued.
——Ren Daobin
Making the brush as strong and handsome as a hard brush is Haizhong’s skill. Those decaying walls and remaining pillars are like carved sculptures. The statue of the capital painted with a rotating short line seems to be about to come down from the capital, or in other words, it has just climbed up the capital because of the painting. With a refreshing spirit.
Is Hai Zhong paying tribute to ancient times? Maybe he just found the object interesting. His pen was distracted and his eyes were fascinated. Haizhong seemed to have seen the object and responded to the drama around him. Hai Zhong is bringing these scenes into a moment of expression. This moment is both history and the present. The moment in Hai Zhong's painting is so vivid and full of emotion. This is the Western scene in the eyes of Easterners. This is the image of Western scenery that is generated in the eyes of Eastern artists. Hai Zhong pays tribute to the past in this way, quietly connecting the business at hand with the ancient meaning, and connecting the current field of view with the original field of view, giving birth to the real pleasure of painting.
