The Song of Yimen, written by Hou Ying, a hermit in the Warring States Period, advised Zhao to get out of trouble and gave generously to drive him away. It enthusiastically praised the heroic spirit of Hou Ying and other low-level heroes, and also praised Xin's enlightened political style of appointing people on their merits. Song of Yimen tells a story with a beginning and an end, and chooses three important plots to express it. Clever combination, refined language and vivid characters represent Wang Wei's early positive and enterprising side.
Background of Hou Ying's Creation in Yimen Song Dynasty;
The theme of this poem comes from Historical Records Biography of Wei Gongzi, that is, the story of stealing symbols to save Zhao. On the basis of the original story, the poet boldly changed and skillfully cut it to write a miniature narrative poem. This poem shows the positive and enterprising side of the poet in his early years.
The hero changed from his son Wuji (New Ling Jun) to Hou Ying, a chivalrous man in Yimen, thus becoming a hymn mainly praising men in cloth. From an artistic point of view, it is amazing to rewrite the story of more than 2,000 words recorded by Ishikawa into a narrative poem of less than 90 words and reprocess the theme, especially the special skill of "shrinking the dragon into an inch" in cutting and refining.
