Zhang Huaiguan, a native of Hailing, Yangzhou (now Taizhou, Jiangsu), was a calligrapher and calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty.
During the Kaiyuan period, he worshipped the Imperial Academy and moved to the right to lead the government soldier Cao to join the army. He is very conceited about his calligraphy, claiming that "regular script and running script are comparable to Yu Shinan and Chu Suiliang, and cursive script wants to be independent for hundreds of years". Chen Si, a scholar in the Southern Song Dynasty, called him "good, upright, practical and cursive" in A Brief History. There is no handwriting in the world.
He is an important work in calligraphy theory, including book theory, paragraph, book review, painting paragraph, book review and medical stone theory, six-body book theory, ten strokes, forbidden sutra in Yutang and word theory.
Historical influence
China's writing and calligraphy, from ancient times to the present, have their own characteristics in form and charm. Show amazing wisdom and creativity. As far as the classification of calligraphy is concerned, in a narrow sense, people are one; Broadly speaking, we should give up small differences, adopt common ground and be as simple as possible. Zhang Huaiguan's classification of calligraphy into ten styles is undoubtedly a great progress. Undoubtedly, Chinese characters are divided into five styles, namely, truth, line, cursive, official script and seal script, or four styles, which are greatly influenced by Zhang Huaiguan's calligraphy classification.
Liu Xizai, a native of Xinghua in the Qing Dynasty, wrote in "An Outline of Art": "There are two kinds of books: seal, minute and correct, all of which are detailed and quiet. Walking and grass are one kind, both simple and touching. " It can be divided into two categories: detailed, simple, dynamic and static. This is a simple classification. Interestingly, there are also two kinds of strokes in the book: dots and lines. There are vertical and horizontal, up and down, oblique and oblique, concession and retreat between points and lines.
The dotted line written with ink and white paper forms black and white. Motion and stillness, point and line, black and white complement each other, which embodies the way of yin and yang and builds a calligraphy world. It embodies the philosophy and aesthetic taste of the harmony between man and nature pursued by China traditional culture.
Zhang Huaiguan listed ten books, each of which was first marked by XXX, with some reluctance. However, he advocated in the book of dating: "There are ten forms of power and force, and each side is mutually clear. Everything that creates a revolution starts with a small step. As for the obvious. " This is also a fact. This shows the emergence and application of characters and their calligraphy. And in the long-term application process, from ancient times to the present, and then to the future, it is constantly evolving and developing.
For example, who made simplified characters and their calligraphy? Even if one of the words, such as the word "Han", who created it? We can only say "the masses", which is the origin of the development of writing and calligraphy. Therefore, there is no need to mechanically confirm the ancestors of various styles listed by him, only a vague recognition is needed.
