Wang Chongxian's obsession with calligraphy can be described as reaching the realm of communicating with ancient literati. Every word is expressing the feelings and thoughts of ancient literati. His father saw that he was so shrewd when he was young and said, "He was a scholar living in the Song Dynasty!"
why do you say that? China's calligraphy has lasted for thousands of years. To say that he is a crucial figure in the history of China's calligraphy, it is not enough to rely on a high level of calligraphy, but also depends on his era and his contribution to the reform and development of calligraphy. In history, there are countless masters of calligraphy, such as crucian carp crossing the river, and there are endless generations of great achievements, and even master calligraphers are not Lin Jiao. Everyone has two conditions for this kind of calligraphy: first, its high achievement is rare; second, it is a link between the past and the future, and its achievements and influence can penetrate thousands of years.
In the history of China, Lisi was the first calligrapher, and the evaluation of Lisi was "unifying Chinese characters and establishing the standard of brushwork for generations". Li Si helped the first emperor to achieve great feats. After Qin Shihuang unified the six countries, he supported the first emperor to abolish feudalism and establish counties, and also participated in the formulation of laws to unify the system of cars, tracks, characters and weights and measures. The implementation of Lisi's political ideas has had a far-reaching impact on China and the world, and laid the basic pattern of China's political system for more than two thousand years. From this point of view, Reese can be said to be the "first phase of the ages." This is true in politics, and so is the contribution to civilization.
In calligraphy, Lisi also stood in a very critical historical period. When the Daqin Empire unified the characters of the six countries, Lisi, Zhao Gao, Hu Wujing and others wrote models such as Cang Xie, Ji Li and Bo Xue for everyone to copy. In this process, from the characters of six countries to the font evolution of Xiao Zhuan, and then to the establishment of the writing norms of Xiao Zhuan, and with high calligraphy attainments, Xiao Zhuan became a font with "round and smooth lines, strict and neat words, slender fonts, concise and clean structure, showing the contrast of upper contraction and lower opening in symmetry, which is both uneven and towering". Li Si played a key and leading role.
Therefore, Li Si is enough to become the first calligraphy master with the most important and far-reaching influence on civilization in the history of calligraphy in China. This is also a special historical opportunity, so almost no one can match it in later generations.
Another person to list is Wang Xizhi, a book sage, who started the style of two kings and became the mainstream of the book world for thousands of years. To say that in the history of calligraphy, people have heard the most, learned the most from it, and had the most far-reaching influence on later learners. Under the influence of its calligraphy style, they created the most people, even below Lanting. After Emperor Taizong, there were few two kings who didn't learn calligraphy. Even if they didn't learn two kings, there were few who didn't read two kings, didn't taste two kings, and never knew two kings. It can be seen that the achievements and influence of the book sage can't be surpassed by the second person in the history of calligraphy for thousands of years.
There is also a Yan Zhenqing who flourished in the Tang Dynasty, who was the creator of the new book style in the Tang Dynasty.
Yan Jin Liu Gu, Yan Zhenqing's calligraphy has become a paradigm for later generations to learn calligraphy. It is another link between the past and the future after Wang Xizhi, pushing the aesthetic realm and spiritual realm of calligraphy to a peak and profoundly affecting everyone in later generations. After the sage of books, the only one who can do this is Yan Lugong.
The saints in these books, the gods in the calligraphy world, always worship and follow their footsteps. Of course, the best way to worship and follow is not to follow blindly, but to learn its essence, inherit its aesthetic thoughts, refine its techniques, and break and innovate on the shoulders of giants. Born in a scholarly family, Wang Chongxian was obsessed with copying Yan Zhenqing's calligraphy "Diligence Monument" from an early age, forgetting to eat and sleep and studying calligraphy. With the same realm of communicating with the ancients as Wang Yangming, Wang Yangming's style of writing and Wang Chongxian's style of calligraphy are all saints.
"I just like writing, and I am willing to spend my whole life writing, which is not as profound as you said." Wang Chongxian often says that this may be what people call the craftsman spirit. I wish Mr. Wang a new peak in the art of calligraphy.
