In fact, in the history of calligraphy development, regular script came out last. It stands to reason that we should write a unique regular script by combining the essence in front of us very richly, but now it seems that regular script has abandoned the previous experience and directly wants to stand on its own feet, but this is not enough.
Therefore, we still have to trace back to the source, and go back to the Wei and Jin Dynasties. Take Zhong You, the originator of French regular script, for example, we put the brushwork and essence of official script into regular script in order to change smartly.
Zhang Huaiguan in the Tang Dynasty called Zhong You's calligraphy a "masterpiece" in his book Brokeback. Zhong You's classic works, such as Ji Zhi Biao, He Jie Biao and Declaration Form, all have obvious official script style, which is very elegant, simple, fresh and beautiful. If you can take the road of regular script, it is only a matter of time before you become a scholar, and you will never fall into the stereotype.
The second is to take Weibei.
Many modern calligraphers have learned from Wei Bei and achieved good results. Compared with the rigid Tang Kai, it gives people a childlike interest.
Weibei is a general term for the stone carvings in the Northern Dynasties in China during the Southern and Northern Dynasties. Most of them come from the people and have different styles. Like official script, it is basically a monument of style, and its methods are very rich, so it is not easy to fall into rigidity.
It is easy to learn to write beautiful, fluent, clear and neat calligraphy, but it is difficult to write Gu Zhuo. The best copybooks on the market now are vulgar words that please the public. Learning these can only be called learning to write, and it has nothing to do with calligraphy.
The third is to get a running script.
There is a kind of regular script that can be called running script, which roughly means to write regular script with the meaning of running script, that is, strokes have a simple connection.
Zhao Ziang, who did better in this respect, should belong to the Yuan Dynasty. According to legend, Zhao Ziang writes thousands of words every day, and his writing speed is very fast, which is also related to the more content he wants to write, so he innovated regular script and changed the pen and pen into a broken combination.
Of course, the former Zhi Yong and Chu Suiliang are also outstanding representatives. Learning their regular script will not lead to a dead end, but will make you feel that the road ahead is very broad and it is a very good shortcut. Jia Qiangqiang suggested taking this road, which laid a solid foundation for later writing running script. Many people who study Tang Kai find it difficult to learn running script in the end.
In addition to the above three directions, if you want to write regular script well, you need to pay attention to the following three points:
1, pay attention to the order of regular script. Don't stick to the regular writing order in Chinese textbooks, which will cause problems because some of them don't conform to the writing rules. Jia Qiang wrote an article in front of him detailing the writing order. If you are interested, you can go and have a look.
Be careful not to go too far against the front. In fact, if you look at the regular script of big coffees such as Zhiyong, Erwang and Chu Suiliang, you rarely start to write counter-attacks, but just follow the front and then turn to the front. This Jia Qiang will write an article explaining this truth in detail, so please pay attention.
3, pay attention to the tension and light and shade changes. Although Jia Qiang suggested writing regular script in the running script, it is still within the scope of regular script, not writing running script, so don't exert too much tension and shade, just be appropriate.
