China Painting and Calligraphy Grade Examination is a skill training and evaluation system for China painting and calligraphy learners sponsored by the Examination Center of the Ministry of Education.

The expert team-China Painting and Calligraphy Grade Examination Committee is composed of Ouyang Zhongshi (librarian of the Central Museum of Literature and History, professor and doctoral supervisor of Capital Normal University), Feng Yuan (vice chairman of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and vice chairman of China Artists Association), (professor and doctoral supervisor of Central Academy of Fine Arts), Pang Zhonghua (chairman of China Hard Pen Calligraphy Association) and other famous painting and calligraphy artists and educators. Well-known domestic art colleges and art education institutions provide technical support for project development.

Examination outline The examination outline shall be drawn up by experts organized by the Examination Center of the Ministry of Education and approved by the China Painting and Calligraphy Grade Examination Committee. Examination syllabus is the basic basis of training, proposition and evaluation. The formulation of the examination syllabus not only adheres to strict technical standards, but also encourages artistic expression and creation, striving to give consideration to the inheritance and innovation of calligraphy and painting. On the basis of respecting the laws and characteristics of calligraphy and painting, the technical links of calligraphy and painting are refined and quantified by using the theory of educational measurement, which makes the evaluation more scientific. The evaluation report and certificate give full play to the evaluation function of the exam. After passing the exam, a specific evaluation will be made according to the actual situation of each candidate. That is, whether each candidate passes or not, he will get an evaluation report on his own work, so that candidates can know their own advantages and disadvantages, and it is also conducive to candidates' further study. The certificate is a realistic certificate issued by the examination center of the Ministry of Education. 1. Elementary (1-3) mainly assesses learners' copying ability, is familiar with the use of brush, and keeps correct writing posture and writing method. By copying the calligraphy, we can learn the basic structure of Chinese characters and master the basic brushwork of Chinese characters, so as to achieve the requirements of accurate stippling and appropriate structural proportion.

Examination method: temporary font selection: regular script and official script 2. Intermediate (Grade 4-6) mainly examines learners' ability to transform from copying to creation. Through copying and initial training, we gradually meet the requirements of skilled pen use, accurate stippling and complete and reasonable structural composition. Assessment method: Choose fonts (more than two) for temporary creative writing: regular script, official script and running script. 3. Advanced (grades 7-9) mainly assesses learners' creativity. Through the combination of creative writing and copying training, they achieve skillful and natural brushwork, flexible stippling, complete and reasonable structural composition, and individual performance on the basis of tradition. Assessment method: clinical, creative and theoretical knowledge (more than two kinds): Kai, Li, Xing, Zhuan and Cao.
