According to legend, Dengjue Temple was built during the reign of Emperor Hanming in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and it is a thousand-year-old temple with a long reputation in the Central Plains. A long time ago, the present Daxinzhuang was called "Heying". In the north of Heying, a big hill with a phoenix-like protrusion appeared overnight. In order to prevent the mound from growing any longer, it is said that Tu Guanyin turned into a bearded old man and built a city on the mound with three bricks. While putting it in the entrance, he read: "Three bricks put a city, and the mound shows the Buddha's spirit; Thousands of generations have come and gone, and the temple will flourish in the future. " Later, a monk swam here, climbed high and saw far. When he saw the arrival of the Buddha, he suddenly realized, so he preached everywhere and built a temple called Dengjue Temple in all directions.
Later, there were many wars, and Dengjue Temple was destroyed by soldiers several times. By the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty, it was in ruins. "Qiao Jian has been dating for a long time." During the Tianshun period of the Ming Dynasty, the tablet said, "Those who are pure in virtue come to find Zhuo Xi", and they admired the ancient temple. When they saw this residue, they felt sad. They "grabbed Mao at the side of the old market and sincerely wanted to innovate it." When monk Jingdezhen bent down to dig the soil, he dug up a broken tablet. "Over time, there was a faint word' Dengjue', hence the name."
Dengjue Temple was rebuilt in Tianshun Shenjia years and completed in Chenghua three years. Jiajing was rebuilt in the thirty-first year. In the tenth year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty, Li Dengchan and others donated points for the increase of earthwork prices, gathered people to resist officials, and were destroyed by Shangguan. It was rebuilt twice in the 32nd year of Guangxu and the 15th year of the Republic of China.
After liberation, courtyards, houses and statues were destroyed, especially the well-known ancient building-China Buddha Hall, which was demolished at the beginning of the Cultural Revolution. Since 1976, Hefang has left home and led many lay people to repair and build, and the whole temple has taken on a new look. The temple is of great reference value to the study of politics, economy and culture in Ming and Qing Dynasties. In 2005, it was designated as a municipal key cultural relics protection unit by Xinxiang Municipal People's Government.
