Jiang Pingchou’s social commentary

Mr. Jiang Pingchou is a calligrapher.

However, when I started writing, the first thing that came to mind was his side as a poet.

Indifferent calmness and straightforwardness and enthusiasm are wonderfully balanced in the same person. This is the character of a poet.

Not long ago, the author visited Jiang Pingchou. As soon as he sat down, before he had time to exchange greetings, he eagerly talked about the beautiful lines he came across in his dreams, and then recited them in a mellow tone - "A few points." The eyebrows and moon are like thousands of dreams, and thousands of plum blossoms are like spring."... That Tao Ran, that kind of devotion that forgets both things and myself, is full of contagion and is enough to make people disappear.

We live in an era where chanting is rare. What is missing is not the counterpoint of the Five Ancients and Seven Rhymes, but the poetic heart, poetic eye, and humanistic feelings.

For calligraphy, it may be an era of malnutrition. When "skill" is separated from "art" and increasingly emphasized, the cultural background fades away.

There is a lot of noise and fashion trends are rising one after another. Jiang Pingchou's deep persistence is highlighted particularly clearly.

Elegance

Fuzhou is a city rich in history and culture, with a long and profound tradition of poetry, calligraphy and painting. When Jiang Pingchou was growing up, his father, Mr. Jiang Yitang, was friends with a group of literati with various attainments, such as Shen Jinshou, Chen Zifen, Pan Zhulan, Liu Laocang, Zhou Zhewen, Zheng Naijuan, Xie Yigeng, and Zheng Lisheng, and they were very close friends. dense. Jiang Pingchou was able to travel there, listen to or consult on many topics related to philology, poetry, calligraphy, painting, epigraphy, and obtain a lot of valuable first-hand information. Becoming a disciple of the famous calligrapher Shen Jinshou allowed Jiang Pingchou to enter the door of calligraphy. And more importantly, it is a cultural opportunity.

Jiang Pingchou has published theoretical monographs such as "A Summary of Calligraphy", "Essentials of Calligraphy and Painting", and "The Essence of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting". He can be said to be a scholar-type calligrapher. This is also inseparable from the influence of the rigorous academic attitude of his predecessors on him. In his later years, Mr. Chen Zifen coincided with the storm of the "Cultural Revolution" and lived in a small corner with a neglected family. However, for 8 years, Jiang Pingchou walked more than 20 miles once a week to visit the small room without interruption. Fen Weng's wealth of education is impressive, but what left the deepest impression on him was this sentence: "Stupid Kung Fu" is indispensable for art and knowledge. Even if the character "一" is engraved on the seal, you might as well read the classics and materials.

Due to various reasons in history and reality, traditional culture has serious faults today. The line of gentleness is endless, which is surprising. From this perspective, Jiang Pingchou is undoubtedly lucky and unique. His talents, opportunities, and life experiences have placed him in the position of a successor.
