1. Yueyang Tower is located on Dongting North Road, Yueyang Tower District, Yueyang City, Hunan Province. It is located on the west gate wall of Yueyang Ancient City, close to the Dongting Lake, overlooking Dongting below and Junshan in front; it was built in Jian'an II of the Eastern Han Dynasty. In the past ten years (215 years), successive dynasties have repeatedly renovated the building. The existing building follows the shape and layout of the reconstruction in the sixth year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1880). Yueyang Tower became famous in the world because Teng Zongliang of the Northern Song Dynasty rebuilt the Yueyang Tower and invited his friend Fan Zhongyan to write "The Story of Yueyang Tower". Since ancient times, it has been known as "the water in Dongting is all over the world, and the towers are all over the world in Yueyang". Together with the Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan, Hubei, and Tengwang Pavilion in Nanchang, Jiangxi, it is known as the "Three Famous Towers in Jiangnan". It is one of the "Top Ten Famous Historical and Cultural Towers in China" and is world-famous. First floor.
2. The main building of Yueyang Tower is rectangular, with a height of 19.42 meters, a depth of 14.54 meters, and a width of 17.42 meters. It has three floors, four columns, cornices, helmet tops, and a pure wood structure. There are four golden nanmu columns in the building. It runs straight through the roof of the building and is surrounded by corridors, beams, rafters and purlins that interlock with each other to form a whole. It is covered with glazed yellow tiles and has a solemn and elegant configuration. On the first floor of the Yueyang Tower hangs a carved screen of "The Story of the Yueyang Tower" as well as poems, couplets, carvings, etc.; on the middle of the second floor hangs a rosewood carved screen with "The Story of the Yueyang Tower" written by Zhang Zhao, a calligrapher of the Qing Dynasty, engraved on it; on the third floor hangs Chairman Mao Du Fu's poem "Climbing the Yueyang Tower" written in handwriting is engraved on the screen, and the couplet "Chang Geng Li Bai Shu" "Water and sky are the same color, wind and moon are boundless" are hung on the eaves pillars, which have certain ornamental value. Yueyang Tower is the only ancient building among the three famous buildings that has maintained its original appearance. Its unique helmet-top structure reflects the wisdom of the ancient working people and the exquisite design skills of skilled craftsmen.
3. In January 1988, Yueyang Tower was announced by the State Council as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units; in August of the same year, Yueyang Tower was listed as a national key scenic spot protection zone. On January 30, 2005, Yueyang Tower was selected as one of Hunan's top ten cultural heritages. In September 2011, Yueyang Tower Scenic Area was officially approved as a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction by the National Tourist Attractions Quality Rating Committee.
