Detailed History of Tancheng Cold Temple

Lengmiao Site is located in the northeast of Lengmiao Village in Tancheng County, dating from the Han Dynasty, and listed as an ancient site. Lengmiao site is the third batch of municipal cultural relics protection units. It began in Xia and Shang Dynasties and gradually evolved in the Spring and Autumn Period. Tancheng Cold Temple was once the seat of Tancheng County, Donghai County and Xuzhou Secretariat Department for a long time.

Tancheng Cold Temple is located in the south of Tancheng Winery, next to National Highway 205. The temple is divided into north and south parts. There is a filial piety hall in the south, which was built in the first year of Jiaqing and rebuilt five years later in Daoguang. The filial piety temple consists of three parts: the mountain gate, the main hall and the back hall. The mountain gate is an ancient high-ridged beast with three steps, big front door and double doors, which is magnificent.

On both sides of Tancheng Lengsi are couplets inscribed by Zhu Rongru, an ancient calligraphy celebrity: "It snows in June to pay tribute to filial piety, and it doesn't rain for three years." The main hall is 3 rooms wide, with a 9-level square platform in front. In the hall, the rockhopper gown and the statue of the dutiful wife are slightly opened, and the layout in the hall is solemn.

There is a stage in front of Tancheng Lengmiao Temple, which is used for singing and offering sacrifices to the gods on Lunar New Year's Day 10+05 every year. Tancheng Lengmiao covers an area of several acres. After several changes, there are no buildings.
