Fei Bai’s quotations and explanations

1. Also known as "Fei Bai Shu". A special kind of calligraphy. It is said that during the reign of Emperor Ling of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the craftsmen who decorated the Hongdu Gate used white powdered brooms to write. After Cai Yong saw it, he classified it as "Fei Bai Shu". This kind of calligraphy has silky white lines in the strokes, as if they were written with a dry pen.

The inscriptions on palace palaces in the Han and Wei dynasties were widely used. Zhang Huaiguan of the Tang Dynasty wrote in "Shujuan": "Feibai is the work of Cai Yong, the general of Zuo Zhonglang of the Later Han Dynasty." Wang Yin and Wang Min both said: "Feibai was changed to the regular script system. It was originally a palace inscription, and the shape was long and wide, so the characters should be light." Dissatisfaction is called Feibai. "Li Chuo of the Tang Dynasty" "The Book of History": "The book of Feibai began when Cai Yong met the craftsman Shi Chuan in Hongmen, and he created it." Volume "Supplement to the History of the State of the Tang Dynasty" by Li Zhao of the Tang Dynasty: "The book of Feibai began with Cai Yong." Emperor Wu built the temple and ordered Xiao Ziyun to write the word "Xiao" in a big book. The word "Xiao" still exists today. "Zhao Yi of the Qing Dynasty wrote in his poem "Wang Shu'an Dao Jing Pi Ling Stops the Boat Talk": "The edict to burn Huang is honored first, and the word "Xiao" is written in white. Yingqi was given the building."

Fei Bai has been highly praised by literati since the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties. The "Sage of Calligraphy" Wang Xizhi and his son Wang Xianzhi are both skilled in Feibai. Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty loved Wang Youjun Feibai. Since then, many emperors and generals in the Tang Dynasty were good at Feibai.

2. A dry and white line in Chinese painting.

Liu Yiqing of the Southern Dynasty and Song Dynasty wrote "Shishuoxinyu·Qiaoyi": "Gu Changkang was good at writing about human figures, and wanted to draw Yin Jingzhou. Yin said: 'My shape is evil, and it does not bother my ears.' Gu said: 'Ming The mansion is an eye, but the boy is bright, and the flying white clouds are like light clouds covering the sun. '" Volume 1 of "Guitian Lu" written by Ouyang Xiu of the Song Dynasty: "Renzong had nothing to do well in his spare time, so he could only practice calligraphy and calligraphy. , and Feibai is particularly wonderful. All Feibai are used to paint pictographs, but dotting is the most difficult. "Qian Qianyi's poem "The Little Portrait of Wanhubu" in Qing Dynasty: "Jingzhou just has Feibai, why don't Zixia wear a small crown." /p>

3. One of the figures of speech in rhetoric. Bai refers to "white characters", and "feibai" means deliberately writing white characters. It is a rhetorical method that is deliberately imitated despite knowing that it is wrong.
