Duanmu is a simple surname with two sources:
1, patriotic men in the Spring and Autumn Period took their ancestral names as their surnames after Duanmu Ci. During the Spring and Autumn Period, among the 72 people who studied under Confucius and were proficient in Taoism, one was called Duanmu Ci, and his name was Zigong. He is a patriotic man, good at business, and the richest of Confucius' disciples. He is good at arguing and doing things very efficiently. He was once the prime minister of Lu. But he is "rich and polite", so his family is very well-off. So some of his descendants took their father's name as their surname, and it is said that their surname was Duanmu. Some take the father's word as the surname, and it is said that the surname is Gong.
2. The Hui people have a Duanmu family. Duanmu is one of the compound surnames of Hui people. Duanmu was originally an ancient surname in China, and later it was integrated into the Hui nationality. The Duanmu pictures discovered in the early Hui nationality were Duanmu Cai, a calligrapher, Duanmu Zhuo and Duanmu Zhi in the Qing Dynasty. Duanmu, a Hui nationality with a compound surname, is mainly distributed in Anhui Province and the southeast coastal areas.
There's a Zu:
Duanmu Ci (Zigong). Duanmu family originated in the Spring and Autumn Period, and Confucius had a proud pupil named Duanmu Ci, that is, Zi Gong. He was eloquent and a famous lobbyist at that time. He also took photos in Shandong, Wei, Qi and other countries. Because of Confucius' appreciation, he became famous, and some descendants took his father's name as his surname, which is said to be Duanmu. Some take the father's word as the surname, and it is said that the surname is Gong. Therefore, the ancestor of Duanmu was Duanmu Ci.
