Why is Zhang Zhuan called a biography?

Chuan 2 was originally a term in Confucian classics.

1. There are seven interpretations of Zhouyi, namely, precept, image, classical Chinese, cohesion, divination, empty divination and miscellaneous divination. Also known as the great biography. 2. The abbreviation of Shangshu Biography written by Fu Sheng in the early Han Dynasty.

Biography uses biographical style, starting with Zhang Zhuan. The author Zhu Dongrun explained this way:

Some people may be a little surprised to see the name Dachuan. The application of these two words in biographical literature is indeed a pioneering work. Biography was originally a name in Confucian classics; Shangshu includes Biography of Shangshu and Biography of the Book of Rites. But it has never been used like this in Shi Zhuan. However, we should know that China's historiography originated from Confucian classics, and 130 historical records only imitated the works of Spring and Autumn Annals: twelve biographies imitated the zodiac, and seventy biographies imitated the ram and Gu Liang. The original meaning of "biography" is to annotate the bottom, so explain the name and artistic cloud: "biography, biography, to show future generations." Seventy biographies are only seventy annotations, so we should give due annotations to the characters in this chronicle or other articles. Since biography is the name of aiding classics into history, it seems that another "great biography" in biographical literature is no exception.
