Luo Chengxiang's couplet calligraphy in the late Qing Dynasty
Luo Chengxiang participated in the Chengdu Provincial Examination and won the third place. The following year, he went to Beijing to take part in the joint examination, but failed. In the spring of XXXX, he took part in the imperial examination again, which coincided with the end of the Sino-Japanese Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1899. In the palace examination, which was supported by Emperor Guangxu personally, he responded to the current shortcomings with his fearless spirit of "speaking outright and being loyal to all his enemies, so his enemies will not avoid the crime of ax and ax". He made fierce criticism and was appreciated by Emperor Guangxu, who was eager to think and work hard. He designated him as the first scholar in Yiwei year, that is, the number one scholar, and was awarded the title of compilation by the Hanlin Academy. Luo Chengxiang became the only number one scholar in Sichuan during the 267 years of the Qing Dynasty and became famous throughout the country.
