He once went to a province in the northwest to meet local celebrities. During the dinner, some people thought that it was hard for Song Xiang that "birds fly to the west and phoenixes are everywhere". Song Xiang said unhurriedly, "The dragon jumps in the south and the turtle bows in the river." Quick thinking, tit for tat, full of surprises.

Lin Zexu tested boys when he was a child. His father carried him into the examination room because there were many people. Seeing this state of the father and son, the examiner joked that "my father is riding a horse", which caused laughter and embarrassed Lin Zexu's father. Who knows, Lin Zexu blurted out: "I hope my son will become a dragon." The audience was surprised by this. Lin Zexu's second couplet not only solved his father's embarrassment, but also expressed his father's desire for success, which was passed down as a much-told story for a while.
