Liu Zai, a scholar in the Song Dynasty, was tireless in learning and knowledgeable. His study was decorated with a self-written couplet: "After sleeping at night, people are quiet, and when they get up early, the birds are singing first." This shows his diligence and hard work in learning.
When Su Dongpo was young, he thought he had no books left to read, so he wrote a couplet: "Know all the characters in the world and read all the books in the world." Later, under the guidance of an old man, it was changed to: "Strive to know all the characters in the world, and resolve to read all the books in the world."
