Duan Yucai Memorial Hall, located in Yuchi, South Scenic Area of Jintan, Duan Yucai (1735- 18 15), a native of Jintan, was a famous scholar and philologist in Qing Dynasty, and wrote Notes on Explaining Words. The memorial hall was built in 1984. It is an imitation Qing brick-wood structure with quadrangle layout, surrounded by water on three sides and pleasant scenery. The plaque at the main entrance was inscribed by the calligrapher Mr. Shu Tong. A pair of "lion rolling hydrangeas" Kunshi squatted on the left and right sides of the main entrance. Stepping into the threshold, you can see a rectangular courtyard, facing the memorial hall. In the hall, there is a bust of jade materials in Duanyan, and there is a gold-plated horizontal plaque on the beam: "Master Pu Xue", inscribed by the famous calligrapher Sha Menghai. There are two pairs of couplets on the front and rear columns on both sides. One was written by Mr. Xing: "The interpretation of Chinese characters is better than that of Chinese characters, with good phonology." The other one was written by Mr. Zhao Puchu: "The Nine Classics were endowed by Tao Zhu, and the source of the word is rich." In the showrooms on both sides, Duan Yucai and later works about Duan Xue are displayed.
