Hard pen notes

(1) Hard-pen calligraphy pens, both front and side are very important.

"Book Tactics" has a saying that "the right army is worried with a pen and has many fronts, so the statutes are strict and confusing; Amethyst is unfolded with a pen, and the side is half, so the spirit is scattered. "

My humble opinion on Linchi is more specific. "We will be able to use this pen in a positive way, sideways, smooth, repetitive, light, virtual, solid, stable, vertical, tight and spread. All these are solutions, and all of them are guided by the nib, so as to achieve harmony." There is no difference between a positive front and an oblique front. If used properly, it can be vivid. Hard pen writing is mostly centered, and every specific stippling detail is the overlap and transformation of center and oblique front. Only in this way can the line form be more varied.

(2) Hard pen to see the strength of bones and muscles should take the center as a tool.

The sense of strength in calligraphy is the first pleasure, and the weakness is not the top grade.

The center is the main engine of hard pen writing, which controls the general trend of brushwork and composition. The momentum of hard-pen calligraphy is also a straight pen that looks at the center. The pen is used in the center, the pen body is upright, the tip of the bead is directly on the paper, the pen is accurate and stable, and the lines are more straight, rich and powerful.

Based on the center, the center will return to its original position after the oblique front is exchanged. If you write this way, you will see that bones and muscles run through and show integrity.

Hard-pen calligraphers in the learning stage of hard-pen calligraphy, especially when the center is the main pen, can polish to the calligraphy practice and even creation stage by using oblique front.

(3) If you want the pen to be elegant and ethereal, you must make good use of the oblique front.

Oblique nib and paper are obliquely cut (connected), and the pen is frivolous and scattered, and the lines are more elegant and ethereal.

In hard pen writing, oblique front is actually very active, especially in the process of entering, closing and turning, the sharpness and dullness are often outlined with oblique pen to enhance the texture and vitality of lines. Not a word is meaningful and bearing, and not a stroke is neither right nor wrong.

Improper use of oblique front will affect the effect of strokes and word formation. Some Jianghu calligraphies fail to grasp the beauty of the central oblique front, and create a "flying" trend with exaggerated lateral front, which is often counterproductive.
